That putting me on the spot a little. lol. I really enjoyed the Jimmy dogs who were brothers to your Tops female. Ohio Valley Jimmy was one of my favorite dogs I have ever hunted and miss him more than anything. I could listen to that dog run and tree a coon over and over and never get tired of listening to him. His mouth, personality, tracking ability and accuracy were what made me like him so much. He was a pretty nice hound for a PR dog. lol. I've owned some nice titled hound like Ranger, Maxy, Anna, Max and Snap but they were trained by others and that I think is another reason that I liked OV Jimmy so much as I did the majority of his training. Now which one was the best? The answer to that question might might depend on who else you ask and whether the dog was having a good night, a typical night, or a stupid night. haha.
The dog that I hunted with that impressed me the most that I didn't own would have been Mad Dog Smoke. I was able to see him do some outstanding work on a two hour cast and watched him tree different kind of coon with ease. He could move a track, quick tree dog, independent, and hold pressure.
I did get to hunt with Bill Hubbards Sam dog on one night. We were only able to make one drop but the dogs split treed and we saw a couple of coon. I wish we would have been able to make more drops as Sam did a nice job.
I like seeing nice hounds perform and there are a lot of nice Blue dogs out there for sure. Hopefully more will respond to this thread and we might be able to find some behind the Barn stomp down Bluetick Coon Dogs.
