any good person, big time breeder or first timer thinks alot of the female. Unless they are just having pups for money, but than i dont think those kind are good people. I never bought a pup from someone who didnt keep at least 2 pups. Breed to make something your proud to have, or do the world good and dont have kids or pups.

There's really only three traits that I look for in a stud or gyp. Quick, Often & Consistent. If you have all three you'll tree lots of coon and win most cast.

cache

I bred my Meadowoods mountain music blue to Gr Ch Meadowoods blue abbey and 2nd place world gr ch gr nt ch ***ans db coon gettn ginger and My Meadowoods blue abbey twice to him. Abbey is possibly the finest track hound Ive ever seen beautiful bawl mouth also

In all my travels and hunts if I had seen a better stud I would have bred to it.

Direct grandson of Dia Jim , Dam is penny. LOUD LOUD awesome drive superior track driver, layups w no track. Hunts on a dead run even in timber. Over one hundred pups as a two year old . Pups every where out of cache treeing bear , cat and coon . Don't see any for sale .

My next stud Meadowoods Real Steel is 2 yrs old out of cache X abbey. Even louder than cache and handles like a dream.
Strive to breed ACCURATE tree dogs therefore they must be outstanding track dogs.

studs

pickin a stud is like pickin your nose. Best to not let someone else do it for you. and You may pick a good burger, or just end up with a nasty finger. But you dont know entil you do it

I appreciate most of the input, but I'm just gonna continue to hunt and hope I come across the right male , if not I'll just breed to the one here. Thanks .

I think it was a compliment that you were speaking from experience rather than quoting other people's thoughts, or just talking up a friend's "stud" dog. FYI Pat knows well what a coondog is, and has a few very nice ones in his kennel.
