Wife coonhunting

Mine has never coonhunted with me.Although she did go pheasant huntin with me once.Between the weight of the shotgun and the walking and briers that was enough.
I should have been a little easier on her.She did look good in her hunting attire.Everything matched and was color coordinated. Plus she had her socks on the outside of her boots.I said something to her about it and she did not seem to understand why that would be an issue.
I just let her find out for herself.LOL hasn't went since.Does go to a hunt or show sometimes.Still trying to get her to go to BlacknTan Days.
P.S.she is from Chicago

mine has started going with me. her backpack is bigger and heavier than mine. she doesn't care to wear roughed cloths so she wears denim skirts. she likes being in the truck while it's in the wilderness.

Gave up coon hunting over 20 yrs ago because I didn't feel right about spending that much money on my dogs and myself with 4 kids and wife to support. Now the youngest is in college and I can afford it my wife thinks I am crazy to run around chasing dogs in the dark by myself. Told her I would die happier in the woods than sitting in front of tv! Don't think I will ever get her to go. Think she would enjoy seeing and hearing these dogs do what they were bred to do. But she is more concerned about me dealing with the loss of another good dog being struck on the road. Gave me good excuse to buy a Garmin! Hope everyone has a safe and fun hunting season!!

My husband got me a coonhound for Christmas in 1976. I went hunting with him all the time. After our good dogs died and he changegd jobs, we got out of it for yrs. Then for a Christmas/birthday/ RETIREMENT present my son gave his dad a Redbone pup. At 59 with spinal stenosis, herniated discs, compression fractures and a torn ACL, I still go hunting with him. Just can't keep up as good. Sometimes I tell him to go ahead and I'll wait or walk back to the Jeep.

My wife goes wit me all the time. She loves it almost as much as I do. Now shel talk alot if we're out wit friends. As long as I can hear the dogs im fine wit it. She doesn't talk to much when it's just me and her but that's wen she facebooks. She gets extremely excited everytime the dogs tree. So I love it. If only I can get her to wanna handle my willow dog.

my wife goes all the time, I absolutely love getting to spend the time together, we spend all night laughing and she considers our 105 lb. bluetick her baby, so the one night she didn't go and he bayed a 350-400 lb. bear by himself and I brought him home bloody and cut up she said it was the last night she was staying home. She has been there ever since.

mine will go sit in the truck when I go by myself. She brings the house dog with her and our 9 year old girl. She fears for my safety

Mine goes with me probably half the time. Either its a great night or we come home not talking lol. In general she's probably a tougher critic on the dogs.

PS- don't try to tell them what to bring or wear, i get blamed if she is to hot or to cold. But it is entertaining when i tell her to wear her hip boots and she doesn't, always gets a soaker (and then i get in an "i told you so")

Also told her to back up from the tree one night when she was shooting. I got told she was far enough back. Long story short Im glad she wears a bump cap. Cause the coon came so close it caught the bill and flipped the cap off her head.

firebird, your wife will probably always listen to you now that she's learned how smart you are.
