I can hunt in areas that average is 200 yards, or in other areas a 1000 so I will say 500 is average. South east PA

Northern West Virginia

Most of the time within a 1/4 mile or less, tonight 1st drop 565 yards treed seen the soon, made 2 more trees within 200 yards of the first tree, saw a total of 6 coons

Average is within 100 yards. Maybe once a month one might go 200. Have had a few go longer but that long 800-900 yard track is once or twice a year.
This is once they are struck. If you are talking about after being cut loose...I think you could pretty much double the average.

You are correct Tom. These danged ole woodlots are full of them. We do have a couple dens that are treed on multiple times throughout the course of a year.

I replied 1/2 mile or less. I was sure if it was after being unsnapped or struck. But either way its under a 1/2 on a consistent basis. More around the 700-900 yard mark though.

And it veries greatly around here on hunting pressure. Some areas seems to be you get big runners and in other areas you get pop ups in comparison.

Western ky my places are hunted pretty hard on average u will strike a good track between 700yds to a half mile most the time its .something when their treed. Though their are a few dogs that tree closer but you hardly ever find their coons. Lol
