Jim is not saying the judge overrides. What he is saying is that a vote has to have majority to pass {and change things} Lacking the majority needed, as in a tie, it is the same as "fails to carry" so the original question voted on stands as originally called. It can only be voted down and changed with majority vote, anything less stands as is.

Yes they were, glad to here they are still around and kickin...I remember Jerry's dog "Sneaky Pete" real well, but cant for the life of me remember Alan's. Alan used to come back over this way and go fishing in the bay, but I doubt he's been here in a right good while. I was friends with one of their old Navy buddies that used to live here.
Last time I seen you you had blond hair and a rat tail...If I remember right you worked at King's Dominion???

Blond, long hair, no rat tail, and worked on a farm. i cant remember that guys name but he was in navy with Jerry. Jerry's Sneaky Pete, and Alan hunted a dog named Rowdy.

I do not know if that is true or not but if he did stay with the cast and kept acting like a jerk my next step would be to take him back to the MOH and let him decide what to do with him, the ones that I had to scratch just went home or back to the club house.

Yep, Rowdy was the name...the guy that was in the Navy with Jerry was Everett Huff. He was tall and thin and has since passed away {about two years ago.}
Maybe you knew a guy selling a dog that worked at KD, maybe my memory aint what it used to be too...Good huntin Dean!!!

Everett Huff I could remember what he looked like, I am not good with names. There used to be a guy that used to guide a cast back around kings dominion when the state hunt was at hopewell, that would have been around the same time. I believe his name was Ralph Maynard, took us back to a big farm that he managed/worked on. My memory sure aint what it used to be either, but sometimes falls in the category of selective memory

So does anyone know the correct answer. If a handler ( not dog) is scratched are they still a voting memebr of the cast?
If so what is the use of scratching them?

If a handler is scratched for unsportsmanlike conduct they should be done, sent on, and play no further role in the hunt as a voting cast member. They are scratched from the cast and the hunt.

That is different than a dog being scratched from the hunt.

If a person is scratched for misconduct he is no longer a voting member of the cast. You go back to the MOH and notify that person or any host club official. The MOH is the UKC licensed official on site. From the "Official UKC Coonhound Rulebook" Page 116..."The host club may immediately expel any individual from the event where there is probable cause to believe that the individual threatened, intimidated, assaulted or battered any person or abused or neglected a dog."
The misconduct does not have to happen during the authority of the judge or when actual hunt time is running. The rules read "during the hours of the event."
I asked for a clarification of this and was told "the event hours begin when the first individual shows up and crosses the property line of the club holding the event and run until the last individual crosses the property line leaving. Individual or person being anyone present...it does not have to be an official or club member or even a handler...anyone in attendance.

Thanks for the replies and clarifications. Some of this is starting to come back together and make a little more sense. Seems there are way too many that do not know the rules they just think they do and want to use them to benefit themselves.

Yep, I would say that at least 85-90% of the time they know the rules just as well as anyone. The trick is not just knowing the rules...it's knowing whether or not you know them, so they can figure just how much they can get away with!!!!!
