Had a hunting partner years ago who lived in memphis in an older subdivision. He had lived there for years. He was going to dip his dogs in a 55 gal drum that he kept dip in. Well this particular day the dog decided he wasnt going in the barrel. He kept spreading his legs and my hunting partner was short on patience...waaaaaaaaay short on patience if you know what I mean. He went all rambo on that dog and got him dunked. Well his neighbor behnd him beyond the chainlink fence hollered and said "Quit abusing that dog or I am going to call the animal cruelty folks." My hunting buddy and I use that term buddy loosely hollered back...."Go ahead and call them and Ill drag your A** over here and Ill put you in this barrel"!!!

Needless to say, nobody showed up at his house.

We are out of control in this country with political correctness.

Is this how you truely use a flea and tick dip? litteraly dip your dog in a barrel of it? Rookie question sorry,,,,

Yes sir...that is why it's called dip. Only way we have ever done it. Used to get the concentrate from Southern States stores. I cant remember the exact mix but it was just the concentrate mixed with water and dunk the dogs in. It really didn't hurt them, but some dogs would kind of freak out being lifted up and plunged down into a barrel of liquid. It had an odor like bug spray and if I remember right the concentrate was like the color of light whiskey. As soon as it was mixed with water the whole mess turned like milk.
It worked better if you first wetted the dogs head with the stuff to drive the fleas down onto his body. Then dunk him up to his neck. A badly infested dog, if not done this way, would end up with fleas all over his head. This coupled with the dunking caused them to freak out. You never plunge the dogs head under the liquid.
It was/is a very effective way to rid kennel dogs of a flea infestation quickly and at a reasonable cost and time.

Edit: In the summer during flea season if you kept the barrel covered you could use it for several times.

If you go to Aylett Animal Hospital down in Aylett VA on highway 360.If all you need is shots the vets will come out to your truck give them the shots on your tailgate and not charge the office call.I realize its quite a ride for you I'm sure. Its about 85 miles for me one way from Stafford. But I take all 5 of my dogs at once so save quite a bit.I don't think I'd drive that far for one dog then again at the prices the vets have closer to me I probably would.

I've gone down there before. But I just had the one dog. the other three were my step daughters, and we had plans for that afternoon. This was just easier this time.
