Seeker, thanks for helping me make my point about corporate welfare.
$150,000 per job to Baxter International
$150,000 per job to KIA
$55,000 per job to Caterpillar
$24,540 per job to Mercedes-Benz
The Kia, Baxter and Caterpillar projects will create a combined total of just under 6,000 jobs. The total amount of government incentives that have been paid or will be paid to these corporations could exceed $750 million.
That is three-quarters of a billion dollars for 6,000 jobs.
The latest labor department figures show that there are 239,200 people in Georgia classified as long-term unemployed (2012) – those who have been unable to find a job for more than 27 weeks. The long-term unemployed make up 56 percent of all jobless workers in the state.
Do the arithmetic and you will see that 6,000 jobs barely makes a dent in the 239,200 long-term unemployed – but government officials have agreed to pay three-quarters of a billion dollars to bring those 6,000 new jobs to Georgia.
Is this a good deal for the tax payers?
Is this the reason the RTW states are growing faster the close shop states?
It cost less to live in a close shop state?
Those are some shocking numbers. This is all part of the great American Scam and I don't mean dream either. RTW is no good for America and either is the Republican party for the working man. We need to stand up to both party's and tell them No more but Keep drinking the Kool-Aid my friends and lets keep living the American Dream.
