I feed them year around. I mix dog food and shelled corn 50/50. They don't eat much of the corn, but it helps keep the feed moving through the feeder. I did add the grape Kool-Aid mix dry to it at first, but once they started hitting it I quit. I have been thinking about switching to cat food just to try it.
Never had any luck with molasses...you would think they would tear it up, I even added a bunch of sugar to it, but it really didn't draw them like I figured. In the winter I hang up a rabbit bottle in a wooden box and fill it with a grape Kool-Aid syrup. It works pretty good too.
You never know what you will get hitting a feeder....
