Credit to Tom for putting Impact in some quality hunts. Seen him at the Lone Star and I see he was at the CHKC truck hunt this weekend. Personally I wouldn't breed to a dog that couldn't win in PKC or CHKC

So, if a Dog doesn't do any good in a Nite Hunt then they won't do any good in the stud Pen ?
This is getting better and better......LOL

Why dont you name us some stud dogs that have positively impacted the breed without having been sucessfully campaigned.
Without that record they will never attract enough quality females to make a difference.
The dogs that have what it takes to dominate in the hunts get the girls, simple as that.

I have seen numerous dogs over the years that never went to a Nite Hunt, that produced nice hounds for their owners, and their owners could care less what other people thought about them, they suited them and didn't have to make an impact for anyone but them.
I don't know of but 1 hound that has dominated the hunts in recent years, that would be Mr. Clean..........

If you go read the Stud dog ads too much, you start to believe they do walk on water........

Triple K Kennels:

Stylish Clover was a Platinum Ch. in PKC, HAD 4 WINS TO Grand in UKC, and they took his first place away on a contraversey, they never put him in UKC after that, so he was a winner.
I do agree a dog can be a good reproducer without being a big winner.
Yadkin River Chico was a son of Yadkin River Tar Rattler, some think he was a better stud than his daddy, Chico was never campaigned....

Yeah Mike I know what he was in PKC, but since this is a UKC site and thought I would only mention his UKC accomplishments. It doesn't list him as even a Nt. Ch. In UKC ?

Many, many times and can say most of the time I was more pleased with the outcome than breeding to a Top Stud.
As a matter of fact, if I don't sell my Slugger Jr. female, when she comes in heat I will be breeding her to a buddy's dog, Heavy Yadkin River bred, Huge mouth, Looks to burn, and Deadly accurate........Never been in a hunt, never been bred......we will find out a lot.....

Just curious but why when these hounds names come up are there so many to jump up and hollar about the title and competition hunting?

If the bloodline is what suits a person then so be it.
Its like a pissin contest every time. The guy started this thread by asking had anyone seen a difference in hunting styles not if anyone had an opinion on their worthiness in the stud barn.

To know Tom Hopkins as well as a few other TW men who have help make an impact on the breed I can assure you they are some of the most generous and respectful men out there. His love for that bloodline keeps him going. If you don't like it, just ignore the questions asked. Scroll on. Find something better to reply too. It seems it would be easy to do.

Its called respect.

Sir I believe respect & common curtosey died lol. You're right though in all seriousness. I don't understand why so many people hate on Lipper the breed wouldn't be as well of as it is today with him. But it is a free country still or at least it's kind of a free country still.

I dont think it is the hate on lipper. Lipper threw tons of good hounds, lots of stud dogs, and had a major impact on the walker breed. Everyone knows that.

I think the disdain came from all the hype and promotion this litter got, future world champs, dominate PKC, etc......all before they were ever put in the woods.

Than they were never entered into a hunt to speak of until Tom started hunting impact recently.

Clover won a hunt to make him NT Ch. There was a question on another cast and when the UKC Ruled on the question (not sure how long it took) Clover had 4 wins to Grand. They took the 1st place win away from Clover and a dog in another cast was awarded 1st place. His 4 wins for Grand were also taken away. Clover was never entered in another UKC hunt and went on to make his name in PKC.

Thank you for explaining that, I thought it was something like that but I didn't really know the details.

I guess.
I'm a "mam" tho. One that loves the Lipper dogs and plans on breeding one in the near future to a GRNITCH. I hope that pleases the multitudes
