We started going in 1968 only missed a couple of years due to family time. Now behind the scenes in 69 or 70 in the field across from the middle gate a group came in and set up a BBQ pit selling ribs n chicken. The person who seemed in charge was a black lady weighing about 4 bills. As it got dark she started a bonfire and around the fire sat some pretty girls. If you watched long enough you would see a man go up and buy a meal then disappear into a tent with one of the pretty girls. She did a lot of business that Saturday night. Never seen the set up after that year.

Kenton

My favorite memories are from the midway around midnite, it was a great show, laughed so much my sides hurt, no specific actions just every year was a blast, I sure miss it. Ha Ha

Spent a lot of time there with Dad & cousins & family. Dad"s generation and he knew Eddie Ross and a lot of the old timers like himself. Always was about the Field Trials & Water Races for Dad. Always heard there was a deal with the Boy Scouts for cleaning up the grounds after the event. Laurie & I walked around one whole trip in the rain & mud with our first ever Wick Frogleg boots on. She thought I was crazy til we got there and saw the muddy mess.

My friend I have seen the same thing well after the 70's. Just one more site I have seen there.

Kenton

A couple good memories I started going when I was 18 in the late 80's never missed it looked forward to it every year went on Friday. I only lived about 20 miles from there the first thing I remember was all the contraptions people were driving around on ole junked lawn mowers with supped up engines quite the site. Then later they disallowed them so we took a gator up to cruise around on and that night one of my buddy's was driving it had a little to much adult beverages ran into the Sheriff with the wheel of the gator told the Sheriff to get the h- - - outa the way oh my that was good. lol great times.
