I saw a Ruger .380 with a Lasermax Laser installed at Shot Show for $340. I think it was Arkansas Guns that had it advertised. Neat little gun for the price because thos Lasermax Lasers are not cheap. I think I paid almost $200 for mine.

Who knows? might just take the fight right out of him if you start asking stupid questions about his gun instead of running.

There are only two individuals in the entire history of the world that became billionaires {yes, with a B} designing and manufacturing firearms. Those two are Sam Colt and Gaston Glock. I think if you design and sell that many of anything the acceptance level far exceeds being considered "Junk." In the world of body guards and anti terror the Glock 19 will be the mark of a professional for a long time to come.
As to carrying...Ted Nugent said it best..."I don't need no law or amendment to tell me I have the right to defend myself!!!"

Junk? Who said junk? I sure never. Go over there and look. What I said was plastic is for breast implants, not guns. Same goes for polymer.

I did look. The way you wrote it inferred that you thought they were. You did sing a different tune on the other board. About the only gun you will find today that is all steel is a revolver or a 1911. The smith you have is a great gun I have one in 10mm and 40cal. But never carry them cause they're hard to hide.

after I carried for a while I became more sensitive to the risk of living around people. Now I won't go out without my gun and on those times I did I was very aware that I was defenseless. Even when I go hunting and have a long gun I carry a pistol and am aware of my surroundings. Have you considered how easy it would be to rob and/or molest someone as they prepare to enter their car. Someone can hide by your truck and wait for you. They know you have a gun of some kind that's worth something, you have money, credit cards, a vehicle and no one is around. A women would be fool to not think about these things and a man too.

Fellas

I know why people carry..I would just like to know what they prefer to carry. I am by no means scared of the dark, but you are a fool to not think about what could come out of the dark.Watch the evening news and tell me how many good things they talk about.I would rather be caught with it than without.

Chris, with bullet improvement, the gap between 9mm and 45 is very small. Less recoil, twice as many rounds, easier to conceal, etc. Type in Glock torture test and see for yourself. Try that with a 1911 and it will fail. Then research ballistics in gelatin, phone books, etc. and make up your own mind.

I carry a Kahr cw45. My wife liked it so much she got one too. She carries a Taurus TCP 380 in her car, and alternates the Kahr with a Taurus Millennium Pro in 9mm

We had a saying back in 1983 when the Army went to the Beretta M9..."a 9mm might expand, but a 45 will not shrink"

Of people keep insinuating that we are scared. .Google -Blissfield sisters. That was my uncles s tepdaughters and wife..Just days before we were having a cookout with woman children and elderly at my uncle's house.Him and I were talking about this and sparked alot of thought..I personally had been in disagreement with the fella that did this on numerous occasions. .What happens if he shows up at that cookout?

There's a big difference between being scared and being cautious, and deciding to protect yourself. I'd rather get out of a bad situation than have to defend myself, but knowing I'm prepared for it makes me feel better. 2 weeks after my wife and I got our permits, she stopped an armed robbery at a nurse uniform shop. She was 4 hours late getting home from work, and couldn't call because she was being questioned by police. Scared me to death, but I was proud of her

this topic has been argued time and time again. No pistol and I mean no pistol will drop a person unless you hit the central nervous system. A round placed anywhere else the bad guy is gonna have to bleed out which could take a while. Most experts will agree that 9mm is the minimum calber to carry for self defense. Remember sot placement is of the utmost importance. I have a friend who house was getting broke into. He shot the guy 4 times with a 9mm the guyed walked out of the hospital 3 days latter.

Funny thing is that people tend to "bleed out" quicker when hit by a 44 Magnum than they do when hit by a 22.....all that said, I would for certain rather carry a 22 than nothing. I, like most sane people {well, semi sane, just sayin} don't want to get hit by either.
Years ago I had a dope dealer distant cousin that got in a big dispute with another drug person. I big fight ensued in the other guys living room in which he was getting the better of the guy. The mans wife produced a 357 magnum and the first one from the side under his arm pit. The bullet traveled all the way across his chest and popped out his other arm pit to fall on the floor beside him. Now wait a minute...that is a double lung and heart hit!!! He walked out to his car, which was like 10 ft. out the door, got his pistol and started back into the house. He collapsed and died on the front steps. When he was autopsied they found no drugs in his system. Point being that if he had a gun on his person he could have possibly killed both of them even after getting hit fatally himself.
In the 80's and 90's all the law enforcement folks had 9mm's, all the people that got shot by the police died...they switched to the 40S&W and ever since everyone that the police shot has survived...that is a fact.

You just total backed up my point. Shot placement is key.

Shot placement is always key...that is why a bullet proof vest probably wont save a man. If I am in a fire fight that vest better be wrapped around his head.
