Just ruff sawn oak. I have tried hedge also, but like oak much better. If you cut the panels right down the middle of the 4 inch square, it will leave 2 inch of tang left. If you pull the corners of the panels together and bend one tang up and on the other panel bend it down, the corners will lock tight.

We use treated deck boards for all of our kennels. Spaced at one inch.. Works great!
