I don't know fellows! Nowadays there's so much pressure on the job place, and at home. When a person gets to a hunt, maybe some of that pressure from everyday life, comes to the hunt as well.?? Idk. But I know when I go to a hunt, I like it laid back. Most of the hunts I've been on have been that way, but a few have been very tense.

As far as the rules go, its a good idea to know the rules, or at least familiarize yourself with them before you go on a hunt. That'll help out tremendously!

I also believe the judge and guide can set the tone of a cast, or at least influence how well it gets along. I bet a lot of y'all know exactly what im talking about? Sometimes the judge's tone means a lot. How does he let the handler know about a decision? Is he nice about it, does he use tact in a positive respectful way? It can make huge difference in how well the cast gets along and make the hunt a lot more enjoyable! Jmo.

Couldn't agree more, Bobby! IMO, the whole world has become Too Tense!

If I ever found myself in a final four, I'm sure my attitude would change, but nowadays I go to a hunt, to just enjoy the hunt. I pack a dog that can win a hunt, but I don't go there to win, I go there to coon hunt! When I decided to take that mental approach, two things happened... I became less tense, and I cared less about how others acted.

Know the rules, know how to apply the rules, have the kahunas to speak up when you need to. You don't have to be an azz to disagree. If you are not sure just ? it and take it back and clear it up. In life its up to me to keep from being taken advantage of, no different in a hunt.

deschmidt27 I wasnt meaning anything toward anyone. Just venting a little seems like every time someone says they didnt have an enjoyable hunt everyone assumes they dont no the rules and I admit I dont no them as much as a lot of you guys by no means but I do have a good idea of whats going on for the most part. Maybe im just the most unlucky person in the world when it comes to getting drew out I dont no but I have went with my good friend to a club about 2 hours from home and the people were a hole lot different everything just was smoother and the hunt was a lot more enjoyable. I think when they get started back up in the spring i will drive up there and try it again.

But as I said, I go to them with a different set of expectations than some.

I got started a couple of years ago. Don't own anything special. But go and participate. I have left a couple of cast wins In the woods. Everytime I have learned something. I have won a lil in Pkc. ( with plus points). I enjoy it and try to do what's right. May the best team win. Dog and handler are a team. Sometimes a handler is the strongest part sometimes it's the dog. I have only had one problem with a cast member. Other than that it's been pretty good and enjoyable. I think how much you enjoy is based on your attitude. I am not letting anyone ruin something I love to do. As a newbie I realized my education was gonna cost me some money and I am fine with that.
