Ok Bill,
I would love to see some pics. Raymond Caswell called the other day and said he had a sister to Bud, was that where your dog came from? Have a great day.

Yes,
I spoke with him on the phone the other day and he mentioned making that cross. I remember when Cash was in these parts. I never got a chance to hunt with him but I hunted with Ringo, Cash's sire and I owned both Ringo's sire and dam, (Bud & Bonnie II AKA Cassie) I also hunted with Cash's dam, (Jenny), she was born right here as well as Ringo. Cash has a pretty good background and Raymond said he is quite a coondog. Should be a good cross. As far as Hanson's Dottie, I hunted with her as well, she was top shelf. Have a great day.

Gerald,
It's just a coloration. I mainly like this bloodline because of their ability. The best Boomer bred dog I ever owned was tan trim. It's true I love the all blue color but that's just part of the game. Have a great day.

Talking Hunt last nightl

Me and my hunting buddy, Tim Wolfe, went out last night, first time sense I had my appendix taken out. It's pretty hard getting out for the first time but getting up and down these hills is quite a challenge. Anyhow, Tim's dog Hank, got one up a tree in an awful thicket, on a big white oak. Wouldn't you know, that dang thing got antsy and walked down that dang tree and jumped off and the race was on. It must have ran for about 10 minutes hot and ended up in the ground. I've had coon do that but not in a while. I guess he thought he'd take his chances on the ground and he was right cause what he had in store in that tree didn't have a bright future LOL.

Thanks Bill

for bring us back to the top. I was going to make a post anyway. Wayne Hanson called me and asked if he could breed his fine blue female to my Buzz dog in the spring. She is heavy Ucthman bred and is a real nice cooner. Of course I agreed so hopefully in the spring, we will be getting some pups. Most of you know Buzz is extremely heavy in Morris' Blue River Boomer blood. Buzz is doing a great job in the timber and is a big, loud, chop mouth tree dog that opens on trail with mostly a chop and sometimes a bawl. He does not let any grass grow under his feet. Wayne informed me that Buzz has several siblings that are top cooners and one that needs a win or two to make Grand and one with a first and another place. I know Ron Jackson has his Rose Bud female that they like real well. Some of the pups will be all blue. It's a ways off so right now it's just in the planning stage. Hope all have a great day. Happy hunting.

Ron

Great to hear Ron!....might have to book one of them! I've had good luck with this Bud blood and still flows through most my dogs now...I'm big on desire and heart....something that can't be taught....the ability to stick when others don't,& grub till they jump is very hard to find now a days!...especially on big game...Then knowing what to do when caught helps seperate them even more....the color is just icing on the cake for me...always been a fan of the all-blues...
Wayne spoke highly of Bud and his offspring and if he's feeding this female.she must be a barn burner with the goodies! Look forward to that cross....I'll be tuned in.....

Thanks Bill,
Buzz is like Bud in a lot of ways. He has the go power and the tree power. Pretty much the same size as Bud, maybe a tad bigger. Buzz has that tree mouth that will carry for a very long distance. I measured him at 1.3 miles the other night, while he was treed, and we heard him very well. He was on top of a ridge and that helped but i've had dogs that couldn't be heard at all in those conditions. Bud put some very impressive pups on the ground in his short stay here on earth. Some real nice males and females to choose from. I've also noticed that many of his grand pups are doing extremely well and many are getting titled. I can't wait to see what Buzz will throw. I'm sure he will follow in his Dad's shoes. Have a great day and keep us posted on the upcoming bear hunts......Ron

I'm sure our weather has been better than yours Bill but it's been pretty nasty so far for this time of the year. A lot of colder than normal temps too early. Our deer season comes in on Monday so the coon hunting' will have to take a back seat for a while. Stay warm and throw an extra flake of straw in for those good hounds. Happy Thanksgiving.

Ron

Good night, last night!

We finally got a break in the weather and I found some time to drop ole Buzz again. Me and Tim took Tim's dog Hank and his new Female out of Hillbilly Dutch, and Buzz out for a few drops last night. We dropped Hank first, and he got in there about 600 yards and got one up in big old Maple tree full of grapevines. Then we changed spots and dropped Buzz out this ridge where we had been seeing a lot of coon feeding on grapes. Before I got Buzz loose he was winding and opened on the lead so I cut him loose. He pulled up over the ridge and struck going down the other side and drove a track a couple hundred yards down the other side then blew up on a tree. He had 3 up that one and we saw one big coon under a brush thicket while we were going in to him. Then we went back to the truck and got Tim's little female "Sis". We cut her loose where we were going to cut Buzz and she struck one and pulled around the hill and treed on a big ole tree just full of grapevines. She had that one as well. It was a good night so we decided to call it quits. On a side note, we have been taking a little 11 year old girl, "Haley" with us and she is hooked on coon hunting, hook, line and sinker! Haley is the daughter of Tim's girlfriend, Stacy. We started taking her out last year and I kind of figured she would burn out quick, so a year later and about $500 worth of equipment, she still loves it. Tim said he is going to let her run Sis in the youth hunts this spring. Please take a kid hunting, you won't be sorry. Happy hunting and a Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Great to hear the little girl is having a good time! That's definitely our future to the sport!...(short story)..
A grandfather took his grandson coon hunting after getting into a bit of trouble running a muck, and showed him the ins and outs of UKC events along the way......spending quality time with him in the woods allowing him to bring friends as they go.......when our bear referendum hit Maine, their local school had a anti sign on the display cabinet in their high school, and 60+ kids took a stand and had it removed!....All because they been coon hunting once or twice with this grandfather and grandson along the way.....in two years these kids can vote!........

Perfect example!

It's our heritage. My dad introduced me and his dad him and so on. My son came in, from about 3 hours away, to deer hunt with me this year. And both of his son are on track to become hunters as well. Our deer season comes in tomorrow, gonna be real windy and warm. Good luck.
