I wasn't able to hunt at the first of the season due to a broken bone in my foot, but I have been hunting some in the last few weeks, and Jim is doing a good job. He can hunt all night, every night. He has the go in him, good nose, and is a good, accurate, pressure tree dog. I like him a lot. He is ready to breed your good female. He, in my opinion, is worthy of the "Main Title", Coon Dog!!!

Had a good hunt with Jim last night. One drop, one track, and one coon before the bottom fell out, and it started raining. Jim leaves out in a run!! He gets gone quick, with one thing on his mind!!! He comes from a line of top hounds, that were top reproducers. You don't want to turn him loose unless you want to go hunting. He's not afraid to get in the dark..........alone !

Had a good hunt last night with Jim. 1st drop he went a short distance, and fell treed on a den. Second drop, struck a red hot track, ran a couple hundred yards, and treed on a limb on a huge tree that had blown down. I saw the coon up a pine, a few feet from the end of the blown down tree. I tried to get Jim to hit it off, but he went back to the place where the coon went up, (on the limb) so I just petted him, put him on a leash, and called it a night.

The dog in the fore-front was a 3/4 sister to Tramp, June, Ruby, Curlee, and Leary. She was out of Smokey River Spud, and a daughter of Be's Blue Jean.

The dog in the back ground was a sister to the dam of Harry Darby's Lead dog. These are a couple of dogs I owned in years gone by.

Two different sons of the old, "Gr.Nt.Ch. Smokey River Blue Diamond Jim." I owned these males in the early to mid 70's. The Diamond Jim I own today displays the same traits the old Diamond Jim dogs were known for.

Jordan, good to hear from you, and sorry I missed you. I was there on Friday, but had to leave early because of a commitment I had made to my grandson.

I would love for you to come for a hunt. I would like for you to see Jim go. He doesn't walk on water, but I really, really like him. Let me know and we'll make it happen.

How's your little female doing??? She looked good the night we hunted!!

I'll give you a call and will make some plans. Ttyl

This is Mayberry Blue Kit. She is making a really nice hound. Big, big, mouth. Bawls on track, bawls on tree with a good change over.

Dixie started bleeding today. She is a muscular female, blanket back, dark blue, with rich tan trim. She is wide chested, with a good head, and trees real good. She squalls on the track, and chops on the tree. She is Vaughn, and Smokey River. She comes from a cross that worked real good. I'm excited about crossing Jim back on ole Zack's blood. Zack is a coondog, and has reproduced some coondogs. Should be good for coon or bear.

Both Jim and Dixie have a good wide chest, with good heavy muzzles. They both have good ears, and both are blanket back. The pups should have good noses, bawl mouths, and be able to drive a track. I'm excited as you probably can tell!

This is Jim treed from last night's hunt. This tree grew up into another large tree, and the large tree was a den. The hole was almost big enough for a bear to crawl in. It was a really bad track, and ended right here.

My Ace dog goes back to your stuff. if he is anything like ol' ace he's a dang good'un. Mr Edwards knows his blue dogs from what i have seen guys. These dogs dont beat tracks in the ground, they get em up and moving and put a coon on the end of em. I've got a stud page too but I'll give credit where it's due. Thank you Mr. Edwards for doing your part to better the breed.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back with you. I know about Edwards Smokey River BLuejake, and Baker's Kandy. I owned Jake, and Jake was a coon dog. He would make things happen. He had a good heavy bawl on track and chop on the tree. The litter he came from was a really good cross. As far as I know, everyone of them made good dogs. Jake was also a good reproducer. Kandy was out of Ellis' Blue Jim, and a Sage female. Kandy was a good hound. Good mouth, and good tree dog. I kept her for a little while. One night I came home, and she had got loose. I found her in the woods, treed with a coon. The cross between Jake and Kandy produced some really good hounds. Richard Lawson's foundation female, Jill, came from that cross. Richard is a bear hunter, and made those "Bear Crazy" videos. Take care, and hope this helps.

One more thing. Kandy was out of Ellis' Jim, which was out of Diamond Jim, and a Sage female. Sage was out of Earl Hill's Arkansas Blue. Kit, Majesty, Blue Gal, Bart, Fannie II, and a few others were out of Ark. Blue. The best crosses, (in my opinion) Warren made with D.J. was crossing him back on Arkansas Blue females. They had mouth, speed, nose, and tree power!!! There were several Arkansas Blue's. Marvel Hill owned a hound he called "Hills Arkansas Blue", but the dog I'm talking about belonged to Earl Hill. He was some kind of reproducer. If he had been advertised, or bred heavily, no telling what he might have reproduced. He wasn't bred too many times, but the few times he was bred has made a real difference.
