Their "warranty" is ONLY 1 year on dog boxes! I looked up their website and it looks like it would take a miracle for them to do ANYTHING under their "warranty" that wouldn't cost the buyer any money! I would do like stated earlier and take it to A.O. and put it up beside their set up!

Here is Owens Sales Policy

Here is the link for it and I posted it below.

http://www.owens-pro.com/pdfs/policy.pdf

Sales Policy

Est. 1965

Credit Terms: Sales are credit card unless a signed credit application has been submitted and
approved for terms.

Freight Policy: Prepaid freight orders $2500.00 - $3500.00 (depending on location) shipped in US.
Additional charges such as residential delivery, delivery appointment fees, restricted delivery,
guaranteed delivery date, etc. are not covered by Owens Products.

Order Policy: All orders are started within 48 hours of receiving, therefore, add-ons will not be
allowed after 48 hours of original order entry. In addition, any order cancelled once production
has started is subject to normal restock fees.
Once an order has been produced you have 30 days to make arraingemnts for shipping or customer
pickup. Orders left in warehouse more than 30 days will be cancelled or charged a storage fee.

Customer Pickup Policy: Requires customer to check product and sign packing slip before leaving
factory.

Freight Claims and Conditions: Always check the condition and number of cartons against the freight
bill and packing
slip at time of delivery. The customer must note damages and shortages on the delivery receipt at
the time of acceptance. Notify Owens Products customer service department immediately upon
discovery of discrepancy. All shortages with the shipment must be reported to Owens customer
service immediately or credit may not be issued. When reporting the
shortage, please refer to the invoice or sales order number, item description, part number and
carton count. Please do not
deduct shortages from invoices when making payments; the factory will issue credit accordingly.

Return Merchandise Policy: All merchandise returned to Owens Products must be initiated within 30
days of original purchase and have an approved Return Merchandise Authorization Number or it will
be refused and returned to sender. Collect returns will be refused for return to sender. Items to
be returned must be received within 30 calendar days from the issue of the RMA#. After 30 calendar
days, the RMA is void. All returns must be boxed and shipped as they were
originally received including foam and other packing materials, so as not to be damaged in transit.
Damage to boxes or product may result in loss of credit for that product. Customer is
responsible for return freight - please insure shipment. Returns due to reasons other than Owens
Products error will be charged a 25% restock fee.
Special order or discontinued items are not returnable for credit. No credit will be issued for any
item that has been installed (unless item is deemed by Owens Products to be warranty).

Warranty Statement: Owens warrants all products to be free of defects in material or workmanship
for a period of one year (Dog Boxes, RaceMates, Mudflaps) and Three years (Running Boards
and Tool Boxes) from date of original Owens purchase. This warranty covers the cost of the
defective part and not the cost of removal, installation, painting or other incidental or
consequential charges or damages. This warranty is void if any damage to the product is due to
misuse, abuse, neglect, accident, improper installation or any other use contrary to the
instructions accompanying this product. Warranty will be pro-rated based on the length of time. All
warranty returns must be issued an RMA# before they can be returned to Owens. Credit will be
issued upon inspection of the product. Any product found to be non-defective
will not receive credit and will be offered to be returned to the sender at their expense. Product
will be scrapped 10 days after sender notification. Owens paint is not covered by this warranty.
See Paint Policy below. Shipping damage is not considered a warranty. See Freight Claims above.

Paint Policy: Owens Products warrants all custom paint to be free of defects in cosmetic appearance
upon receipt of goods. Owens Products makes every effort to match the OEM colors and utilizes
approved OEM color variations. However, due to weather, sun exposure, other chemical contact to
which the vehicle is subjected, the vehicle's paint may fade or change slightly from its original
color. We do not guarantee a paint match. If an exact color match is absolutely required by the
consumer, we recommend that the product be painted locally. Painted product cannot be returned
unless it is defective due to materials or workmanship. Slight color variation is not considered a
material or workmanship defect. Please call Owens for Tri-Coat paint policy.

Price Changes and Specification: Prices are subject to change with 30 calendar days notice. Mere
possession of any Owens price list does not guarantee purchaser the prices or product lines
contained therein.

Disclaimer: Due to the large amount of print and text, Owens is not liable for inaccurate or
misprinted text that may require correction. Corrections may be made at Owens discretion. This
policy superceeds any or all related preceeding policies.

Owens boxes have been doing this for years, i have seen a bunch of them. The heat from welding makes the grade of aluminum they use to brittle, when subjected to vibration it fatigues and cracks.
I bet if you file a small claims suit they will replace your box.

Small claims

I may just look into that

I talk with 2 big shot salesmen they told me that they spoke with the plant manager & the owner of the company who is an ex-cop like I care, the owner told them "what does he expect it's 3 to 3 1/2 years old & it only has a 1 year warranty" that came from the owner of Owens. The best that they will do is if I will take it to oaks they will take it back, sell me a new one for $450.00 & give me a visa gift card for $50.00. I am not paying that for one that may do the same thing a few years later. I said I would pay the shipping to send this one back if they would send me a new one & they laughed. Guess I'm S.O.L time to shop for a new one any suggestions

I happen to know some about welding and welding procedures (it's what I do for a living). The cause of the cracked welds is directly related to the material they use and the way they weld it. Many things can contribute to a failed weld such as the alloy they use, the type of filler metal used to weld it with and even pre or post weld heat. It is obvious that they are just throwing it together and taking your hard earned cash. If they don't change the process they built it to, they could give you a brand new one free and it'll do the same thing.

My buddy has a Unique thay he has used/abused for years with no problems at all. But it is pretty heavy. Everyone wants a very lightweight box but a lot of times there is a trade-off.

American

I like anything AMERICAN lol I really like the looks of the one made by K&W, I have talked to several of the different manufactures that build these I told them my problem I had with Owens & they tell me they are about the cheapest ones built, they can't belie they are handling it this way. So all of you going to Oaks be sure to stop by & let them no there is a problem with there box it's happened to many times to be a fluke.

houndsmen deluxe

I have owned a houndsmen box for 2 years now and it is indestructible. They are made in the USA. Mine was thrown over 100 feet out of the back of my truck during a tornado. The damage was a few dents and a broken latch. I live close to where they are made so i drove there and they werent surprised that it stood up to the abuse. Excellent people to deal with. Got my new latch and I still have it. Only bad thing I can say is it takes 2 people to load.
