The new Garmin collar has a auto rise technology. Instead of it steady shocking the dog it increases levels and, teaches the dog to be quiet. There's two different kinds one is rechargeable and, one takes batteries.

I have a Garmin Bark Limiter Deluxe.I put it on whatever dog has to stay home while the others go hunting.Keeps the wife happy. This bark collar is not perfect but it helps.
My final answer is dogs are a lot like people. Some have enough common sense to keep there mouth shut and some do not.

Garmin bark limiter

I got this collar and use it on my young dog. I think it works really good, and love the autorise setting. It will let him bark a time or two when I go out to feed, which does't bother me, but keeps him quiet anything beyond that. Also like that when you turn it off, it will show you how many times your dog barked. At the suggestion of Bruce I went with the battery not rechargeable. No problems yet, and it came with the battery (that's like $6-7 of the price).
