3 CAST WINS

Yes sir 3 cast wins every time. We'll except 2 years ago at National days when Jesse & piggy won it with 3 cast wins. I do believe there was 4 others with 3 cast wins that year.
It was brought up last year at southern days about hunting all 3 nights & taking 400 minus if you wanted to be eligible for overall champion if you didn't hunt on any given night. I have seen it to many times that someone had 2 cast wins with a good score & not hunt on the last night cause of bad weather . This rule was put into effect to put everyone on the same playing field when competing for an overall championship.

We all know you can't please everyone. Lol

Keep it simple is right.

Simple: UKC already has it figured out for us. Just copy the rules for winning the hunt, exactly like the UKC World Zone hunt determines placement. Follow those rules. No confusion.

Pro and Cons how ever you do it I know from 12 years as a officer in Southeastern Treeing walker Assoc. The main thing to remember is you want to keep it honest and fair for the best dog to win I like the cast winner format over the hunt I am not sure if I like the 400 hundred minus if you can not hunt every night

Some of the reason in my train of thought not everyone has the money or the time off from work to hunt all 3 nights or not able to hunt all 3 nights because of a health problem is that keeping some away and catering to the people who can maybe the dog out behind the barn and who could help the breed who's knows just a thought but the more you can get to attend the better off your hunt and breed will be you hunt with different lines of dogs see how they work friend ships are made and future crosses

At the south eastern it was for years for the high score dog of either Fri or Sat night and the high score held up a lot from Fri night but its a hunt thats pre entry fills up by the cut off now I know the reds don't have the numbers of the walkers but how cool would it be for your hunt to get so big you had to go to pre entree's that and to keep it honest and fair to all should be the goal.

I'm saying this as someone with no chance of winning--don't have the dog power and am too old to hunt 3 nights in a row. If I did have the dog power, I'd be using a handler.

Everyone has different ideas of what conditions they are willing to let their dogs hunt in. Some people I know turn their dogs out near highways, with mild injuries, etc.
If my dog comes in from the second hunt with a high score and a limp from stepping on a nail, I don't want to put him in the woods the third night just for a chance to win. If he can win with two cast wins, though, he should.
I would not keep him from hunting just because he had a high score the first two nights.
That's just me. I don't think you can make rules enforcing good sportsmanship, but I don't think there should be an incentive to hunt an injured dog either.

Dogs are just like Pro Athletes. Some want to hunt with injuries and some want to sit on the sidelines. I have had some dogs that would have a fit if you left them at home just because they were injured and I have seen Pro Football games where several of the players were wearing casts because they had broken bones. I saw a NASCAR race one weekend where one of the drivers had been up all night throwing up because he had a stomach virus. They gave him some IV fluids to hydrate him and he climbed in the car. I have seen/had dogs that hunted just fine while holding one leg up and limping. I have also seen/had some that acted like they were going to die because of a sore pad and would refuse to hunt. Dogs are just like people some will/want to play injured and some don't.

On a lighter note, Didn't they pass a "rule/policy" that said that any changes had to be put on an agenda ahead of time before they could be discussed or voted on? What is on the agenda for the meeting this year?
