Good point Marv, and I believe there is still a $5000 paycheck waiting for the first redbone to win a world hunt which is sponsored by the National Redbone Association.....so there is a nice chunk of change on the table in addition to the trophies and the title.....

Where does a man go to see Jon go,And what does it cost!!!!!!

How do I schedule that hunt,

There ya go Larry. I'd like to know the location and cost too. I would love to see him go. Might even turn ol Smokey loose if it don't cost too much! I'm sure glad Jon is getting a chance to prove himself and I too would love to see him make a run at the UKC title!

I think Andrew meant for the disbelievers or the ones that believe they have the best to put up your money and prove which is better.
I have been around a few of other "good dogs" and i know who im putting my money on.

Yeah but there is $25,000 waiting on the first Redbone to win that other World Championship. If you want to see Jon go then I saw where there is an entry for sale ($160) at the Pavo, Ga hunt tonight/tomorrow night. You could buy it and you might draw out with Jon. And if you win then you get a 4X4 truck. I just wish that I had a dog good enough to go down and play with those guys.

you have a point, but winning the ukc world will bring you twice the publicity of the othern and besides, I know the money don't mean squat to one half of the team and it sounds like the other half don't need it either.
hell, win them both and everyone will be happy happy happy.

I don't know about that. I could buy an awful lot of publicity with $25,000. Just look at how much he has gotten by winning $1,000.

When I want to know how my dog is measuring up to the competition.....I take her to the bigger money hunts. Sounds like that's what Andrew is doing with his dog as well. Say what you want....but that is where you will find the stiffest competition on a regular basis. Not talking about the small local hunts but the bigger added money hunts. If your dog can win consistently on that circuit....then you have a top competition dog. I wish more people who get on here and blow about their dogs would go and hunt in these type of hunts for a few months....many would have their eyes opened...wide! I use the dogs that dominate in the top level money hunts as my measuring stick. I know the difference between being out dogged and being cheated or out handled and most of the time when I get beat at one of these hunts....the other dog was just better that night than what I was leading. Trust me when I say that there are very few redbones who can compete at that level and win against that type of competition dog. Most redbone breeders are not breeding for that type of hound....but a few of us are. I think one of the biggest hurdles to achieving this in our breed, is the unwillingness of many redbone people to admit that as a breed...we are behind some of the other breeds at that top level of competition.
A lot of redbone people are not looking for that type of competition dog...but for those like me who are...keep trying. We see a few dogs a year who seem to pull out in front and take that big step and enter the top level money hunts...but sadly....even fewer are able to win very much as they step up to that next level.
One of these days, we will get the right combination of genes in a cross and several of those pups will make their way into the right hands who will unleash that right combination of potential and desire and they will go down in the history books as the dogs who get the credit for finally turning the corner in the top level competition world....lets just hope that when they do...they are also dominant reproducers who can change the breed in the future as well:}

Uh, maybe I misunderstood but I believe Shane was complimenting Jon... But then again, I may have misunderstood, or maybe you have your head in the wrong place and are looking at it the wrong way, maybe you are looking for a reason to dislike others. Fireball dogs aren't the only ones that win.

Liz,
I learned a long time ago that no matter what I say on here...certain people read what they want into it. I can't give my opinion on anything or else a few guys on here jump on me and say I am making everything about me. Sorry, but my opinions belong to me and me alone....can't help that...its just the way it is. I have said nothing negative about Jon, or Andrew, or Russ. In fact, I have complimented them for what they have done and are doing. I never even mentioned my dog until someone saw fit to write about her using some quotes taken out of context from another thread from a year or so back.
This kind of thing is what hurts our breed and holds us back. We should be working together and freely sharing our ideas and opinions about bettering the breed....without having to worry about attacks from guys who only seem to do their competition hunting on the internet.
I don't write on the board much anymore...because its the best way to avoid attacks from a few of these guys. That's fine with me...I don't need the frustration and it just gets in the way of what I am trying to do to reach my goals with the breed.....but I do hate to seee when it happens to others. I think for that very reason, this board does not enjoy the activity it once did over the past few years. People are afraid to post their opinions now....at least the ones that may be out of the box and not considered mainstream within the breed.
What a shame that is....because of a few bad apples who can't accept or debate with a civil tongue, different ideas because they are not their own.
I wish everyone the best this year and hope that Jon Henry and a lot of other redbones to some big winning.....shane
