Just to update
I did indeed sell this wired pup, the new owner was familiar with his pedigree, and didn't have any neighbors, also didn't mind a wired dog. Last I heard he was doing very well, and was being collected.

I also found a calm level headed pup out of same line, but was from an out cross. His temperament suits me much better, and he has more drive then I could ever ask for.

So to sum it up, it would seem that drive and desire seem completely unrelated to temperament or how easily a dog is excited, in my opinion, and given the numerous genetics possibilities, no 2 dogs are ever the same. Trying to simplify dogs into a cookie cutter form, or statement such as " A wired dog will out last a level headed dog." Takes away from there uniqueness and sells short there undying loyalty and eagerness to please.

I believe I also learned I do like my dogs a little bit more like my Sunday afternoons laid back with my feet up.

Yes my wired pup is out of prophet and my female...my female is calm and laid back as any and prophet stayed in the house when cj had him so I wouldn't think he would've benn wired. My female is the only one from the litter that was wired but I don't mind as long as she listens and she will eventually come out of it I think. But she was the pick in my opinion and iv been very happy with both pups I kept so far

The best cross I have ever made was a half brother sister cross. ... And still prefer to do so. I personally haven't had that problem in my own crosses but I have seen it with other's. I have one now from another guys lines breed that way and she is wired up. ..

This is the first wired up dog iv had...she is a go getter and always running wide screaming open lol I'm anxious to see what happens when the leaves come off and I start to really hunt her...I also have a male from the same cross that I'll be hunting this fall...he is totally opposite from her...lazy around the house but has another gear when cut loose

It has been brought to my attention that my previous post about smoke was incorrect I stated he ranandtreed his first night in the woods and tommy knowledge it was but according to Garreth he had smoke out a dozen times and worked him on drags !! So for the record I won't and wasn't trying to misrepresent any dog much less one that came from my house out of my female!!!! Smoke has been what some wil describe as a natural since his first night in the woods in south Carolina !! I appologise if anyone took it the wrong way that it wasn't meant to be as I was unaware!!! The facts are different people look and want different things from there dogs and I hope everyone is happy with any pup they have bought off any of my femaleS!! I have never made a cross for $$$$ I have always and will always make a cross a for myself and what I like and others I hunt with and b to better the breed and revive some of what I feel has been lost over the last 10 or so years in the walker strain!!! Succeed or not you won't know unless you try but ones things for sure you won't see the flavor of the month covering any dog of mine it's gonna be a real track and tree hound with a hound mouth and a good cold nose!!! And show to be throwing those traits in his pups !!! I don't care if he is a world ch or just a good dog tied out back behind the barn! Good luck and happy hunting!!! Joe Zinn. 571-233-5819

if it has the brains to match..........gimme that high voltage pup EVERY time. nothing makes me madder than to have a dog refuse to come out of the box on night 2 or 10 or 100 or.......

and im not feeding 2 or 3 different dogs so I have something to hunt every night....and when I decide to single one out.......that's sucker is gonna hit the timber every night until I cull it.......or finish it.....which ever comes first.
