The independent to a fault hounds usually don't like other dogs period. Most of the time they have an ill temperament. They work hard the first 5 minutes to get away from dogs and will pass up coons to do it. Those kind usually are very "mad" when something does cover them.
I prefer one that when dogs pull up short, be setting treed a little farther with the coon. That is the independence you win with.
Accuracy over independence for me. But if you get one that's both,
you have a big time winner.
