I personally think many of you are worrying unnecessarily. We do not have a new policy in place. Sure, we've talked about it, but nothing is set. We want to make 100% sure we come up with the fairest solution for all people involved. We've held test hunts and had discussions with several hunters over the past month. We aren't going to rush in to something, we are going to do our research as best as possible. We're still doing research and making sure we put in the time and effort to make a good policy.
I can show you letters to the editor of Coonhound Bloodlines back when other major changes were made in the competition hunts. When UKC went from a 3 to a 2 hour hunt, it was going to ruin competition hunts. When we went from non hunting to hunting judges, it was going to ruin competition hunts. Guess what? Both the 3 hour hunt and having all non hunting judges is still an option for clubs but no one uses them and they didn't ruin competition hunts. They changed them, sure, but didn't ruin them.
If you have any constructive thoughts about this topic, please email them to me. We'd sure like to hear from as many active UKC hunters as possible.
