Ditto on the brightness of the sunfire..completely drowns everything out!

It is heavier because the head is machined aluminum not plastic made crap.

Right! Very well made light! I have field tested one of the lights list for the company and a couple of the others listed I have hunted with people who have them and it's no contest. But, when I bought my cordless I did not want to compromise performance and brightness....weight, size, switch position, etc did not matter to me and I got not only what I wanted in the Sunfire I got more! Was looking to by a cordless for a back-up light ended up hanging up the belt light and use the Sunfire as the main light now!!!

If you would read about the sunspot lights, before bashing the aluminum heads. Theyre made with heat ABSORBING technology. Read about it, then go edit your post.

Boys, Boys, Boys, The Beacon and The Sunfire, along with The Boss and our Laser Pro are all good lights. It boils down to personal preference. I do however want clear up some things that really bug me. Some lights can not be put in a plastic head because they get to hot. It is much less expensive to use aluminum in the beginning because there is no mold cost. In our case it was $14,000. We have been approached by other light makers to use our head. The other thing is the battery holder. We use nylon because we like it. We could go to a battery box for about 20% of what we pay for the nylon.

Thanks,
David Morgan

None of these lights get hot enough to crack, melt or anything else even remotely close. Most of the ones with the plastic heads do not have enough power to be concerned with heat. What does happen though is they can get hot enough to damage the electronics inside. A plastic heads that pushes enough amps (anything over 1 amp) is cooking inside like an oven with no way for the heat to escape. A properly designed aluminum head gets hot because it is removing the heat from the inside of the head and protecting the electronics. That is what it is designed to do. The plastic has an operating range of up to 176 degrees. That temp can be reached very quickly by electronics pushed past 1 amp and some of them are.

I bought a Lazer Torch Pro color with difuser at AO. After a few nights my belt light is officially retired. That was the best money I've spent in a long time, for the first time in a long time I have no "buyers remorse". It's like carrying 2 lights and 3 pop covers without the bulk.

The colored LEDs sold me on it over the others.

I know you are not bashing but there are several different types of plastic. These are a cheap abs plastic. Look it up you will find exactly what I said to be true and what you said about aluminum conducting heat is why it should be used for any electronics pushing 1 amp or more.

Just monday night at a hunt i put my sunfire in a tree next to a new laser torch pro. Pretty close in brightness but the sunfire has a larger beam and a better halo for walking. I have compared lots of the cap lights and these 2 are the brightest.
On the plastic versus aluminum head, Plastic (insulates)keeps the heat inside the head where the electronics are and aluminum transfers the heat to the outside, staying cooler where it needs to be cool.
The laser torch is a bit lighter, the sunfire throws a little more light. TOSSUP.
