Title: "Man of his Word"

Heart was raised and trained by the late Anthony Grayson and his wife Mary Grayson. I first met Anthony in Plattsburg MO in 2003. We hit it off and stayed in contact over the years. I really enjoyed talking to Anthony. He always said he wanted a hound out of our breeding and we were so proud that he did.
When I found out Anthony was sick ,total shock took over my heart. To give you an idea the kind of man Anthony was, a couple weeks before he passed he contacted me and said "this little hound is tough I want you to know he will be taken care of." I of course was more worried about my friend than a dog, but Anthony was serious about " Heart" getting his due. I said buddy Im worried about you. His reply "I appreciate it but I want you to know I made a promise that heart would get trialed hard and taken care of." To me this was amazing that a man in his situation had such moral conviction that even in such illness he would not faulter on his promise.
A few months later Scott Clark, a fine man in his own right, called and let us know Heart had made GRHBCH and that he made good on his promise to Anthony. Anyone that knew Anthony knew what kind of man he was, honest, hard working, great husband, and a true houndsman! Anthony took a chance on our next generation breeding program with one of Nitro's first litters. This weeks feature pup really isn't about Heart, even though we are very proud of what Scott and Heart have done in this years ALL star race, this article is really about a friend, a competitor, and a houndsman and the moral character he stood for. I truly believe somewhere in heaven our friend is watching Heart climb the charts this year and has that million dollar smile on his face.
So when you see the name "Rufnex heartbreaker" in the ukc results, remember who was behind that name......
