So according to you guys a dog that scores 550+ and places 4th in a big hunt is better than a dog that scores 550+ and wins 1st in a local hunt. Learn something new everyday...... [/QUOTE I wouldn't say one is a BETTER dog than the other, just that it is HARDER to place when there are 20 cast WINNERS vying for the top placings, compared to a only a couple cast winners..There are many, many dogs winning casts and titles at local hunts everyday, but only a very few CONSISTENTLY show up in the bigger hunts,HAWK,STR.ACE,BUDDY,MANDY 2,to name a few. Top placings in bigger hunts are just one tool we can use to evaluate our dogs.If it not such a big difference, then why all the TOOTING when a Blk dog places high in a Big hunt?..jmo
Can you name 1 that is hauled to most of the big hunts that never places? I'm not saying it is not a good thing to place in a big hunt. It gets your picture on the web site, the magazines, and the breed album. All in all it is a positive for the breed. Some just get carried away with the meaning of it.
