Don't make me dislike Todd or anyone . Todd I know you got heavy breed Albert down there. Know genes got Ryder got a pup out of him and like my pup. Just not talking two time if that was all he ever had he wouldn't be the godfather in your parts. But for Todd if nothing else he will speak up for what he thinks. Wormy I don't own any of these dogs so its really not mines bigger than Todd's but it is lol.

Man,its like this.These guys are friends.If we cant speak what we think to one another.Are we really friends.You fellas dont know Mike. He is as good a fella as you will find. We go on like this all the time. Same way with Mitch and me. We argue over dogs back and forth constantly.However we both like different style dogs,but the dogs we hunt have ALBERT IN EM.

Thank you Todd. I am sorry this discussion ended up being an argument. We need to support each other in the black and tan breed. So some black and tans can win like the walkers are. I am sure u all know ken duncan in Utah. Ken has a hole kennel loaded on Hicks breeding and Albert bred.also has the other 1/2 filled with scaggs. Alber line and scaggs line fit really good a lot of guys are using them for big game but they are really coon dogs..thanks

Duncan isn't breeding much Albert blood , he tried some and had a hard time finding tree enough to suit him and even sold that stud .

Several breeders try and take credit for Ken using and loving their blood ... but that isn't coming from Ken .

Got to hunt with Two Time. NO DOUGHT one of the best I have ever saw go. Have heard Big Time and Bill were right there with him.
Two Time left on a dead run, could blister a track, tree him on a locate, and look a coon when you got there, a tree dog deluxe, touch his tail to the tree turn him loose and watch him do it again.
If you can find one like him the Whif money is in trouble.

U are right I believe that dog went to Michigan and I think he was sterile if I remember. Ken has I believe 6-7 scaggs bred dogs in his kennel he is making crosse to and they have a lot of go in them and start early. A lot of outstanding reports.

It seems odd that with that many folks saying Two Time was the best ever .... the semen has just been used by Gene , once ?

Cherry Poppins , Ky River Chigger , BTTB Lace , etc ... wonder why some of those females weren't or haven't been bred to Two Time ?

Especially with the WHIF money on the table ....

I don't no I could have my dogs crossed but i know about two years ago ken had one of them he bred to a couple females and nothing became of it so he sold a dog might not be the right one. Anyway the scaggs stuff ken has is Turing his kennel around not around but deff adding some juice to and marking some hounds that don't quit.

Duncan , Albert , eetc ... we all get older and hunting grounds shrink and our kennels that had gyps or studs with a great story are replaced by dogs that are nice , but lack the experience of the old stock ... the newer generation has to pick up the slack and we all have to be careful what we get into.

I have some Duncan blood ... Mingo is not Albert or Scaggs bred , he's Ken's old blood and alot of Smithurst .. I know Ken dabbles with other blood , but if you talk to him he don't blow it up as being what his stuff is ... he even has a gyp out of our Jericho , but I don't use her and Ken to brag our male dog up ... it's just a dog and who knows if she's any good ... maybe treed a caged coon and then bred.


To me , the Albert blood is a great example of good dogs but a lesson to be learned .... how do we keep our kennels full of dogs the caliber of our " Two Time" ?

How long do you keep breeding a line and inbreeding around " Two Time" without producing one that good before you start changing things up ?

Two Time wasn't inbred ... Ace wasn't ... Hobo's Hoss wasn't .. Chigger wasn't ...


When a line is inbred around a dog that's long gone and clinging to the past ... buyer beware !

I like the Albert traits when you get em' right ... I have a phenominally talented dog that is as good as anything he came from , so I aint worried about it .

But , if I'm gonna buy or listen to someone tell me about a line and they are telling me these hounds aint as good as they used to be ... Im' gone !!!!! Save your story and send me to someone that has the real deal ...

It all boils down to this.I take heavy ALBERT Blood and cross it in ,with Hobo Hoss blood,Now ive found out Ole Nute is working with my stuff and Batman Then I will throw some more Albert in and More Hoss and to keep it.Do the same.This is how im rollung with my dogs.Yall can Roll the way yall want.Thats the beauty of it all.

Y'all say they ain't what they once were. Are y'all basing that on all of genes dogs or just two time? Two time was before my time but we all know his story. The only thing for him to be called is a freak of nature. Do any of y'all know what was 3 or 4 generations before him? I think they're still good dogs and I am thinking about something out of 6 time. As much as we want another 2 time, I personally believe it had to do with genes breeding and some luck thrown in there. So I think y'all should compare the dogs a few generations before 2 time to what he has now. No he doesn't have another 2 time in his kennel but honestly who does? JMO!

Andrew , the mother to Two Time was also the mother to Robinson's Typhon and I wanna say she was bred to somethign else and Ed Able studded one from that cross .

So , it's odd that in the search for more like Two Time or dogs that favorite " Albert" dogs .. that she is so overlooked.

Justin ,She is my pride and joy. She is a behind the barn type hound
and all coondog and by no means overlooked by me. She has been bred twice to Slam and produced some natural hounds. Producin one fixin to be grand and a ntch.And another with a first and the rest never went to anyone that comp hunts.
Now she has 4 pups outta Batman ,they are 10 mnths old and 3 are running and treeing ,dont know about the other one.

Yes i have made some crosses that didnt suit me. Bred him to a heavy bread Myeres female,i didnt like em.They wanted to track to much for me.

Crossed on a moonshine female,didnt like em.

However, Did like what Slam x Molly done.Nice hounds.
Like the Hammer x Veronica pups,we had 5 pups all will run and tree .
Hammer x Lucy i wouldnt take 3000.00 for the pup i have.
Think there are five pups i know 3 are treeing dont know bout other two.

Dirt devil I couldn't give you an answer to that one. I haven't been in this long enough. One thing I know is that Robby Robbinet has a young Albert female and he hunts the smith hurst hounds to. If a cross is made Is that the sort of cross you're talkin about?

I don't really know myself. But I'll take a guess and that's all it is. His pups were probably the heaviest Albert bred dogs then. And the ones gene kept just got the name. That's just a 100% guess Justin.
