I understand more is not ~always~ better and can see where that would be the case the majority of the time. The club I belong to is realitivly new and we don't have strong numbers as far as entry fees go. The hunts we've had probably average between 8 & 12 enteries. An issue we deal with is scheduling dates. In the South many of us work off-shore or on river boats etc. This being the case in our club. So trying to plan hunts so everybody can attend can be tiresome. Most of us that work in the oil field etc leave and come home during the middle of the week. With hunt dates being limited and only allowed on Friday & Saturday nights it makes it very difficult to plan hunts where the bulk of us can participate. It's a lot easier for us to slip off on a week night than to compete on the last Friday night we're home. Our spouses really despise that! Lol Being gone with what ends up being half the year, my chances of being home are already cut in half from the start. So for those of us that work this type of schedule it's takes a lot longer to earn titles etc on our hounds. Plus being in the South where the leaves are on the trees 75% of the year our chances of getting to "score" a tree can at times be slim.
I realize this is not the case with most clubs but it is an issue in the Southeast. I believe if our club had a little more lead way on our hunt dates our club would have bigger turn outs if that's what you're seeking. But what's good for the goose is not always good for the gander. JMO
