Chuck,my great-grandmother was pure Cherokee Indian also.Don't know why or how-but my great grandfather and she met in Eastern North Carolina.Belhaven to be exact.Belhaven is on the Pungo River about 25 miles east of Washington,N.C.My great grandfather died at an early age leaving my Great grandmother with 9 boys to raise. She had no education whatsoever. She ended up putting 5 of the boys in an orphanage in Oxford,N.C. I was around 7yrs. of age when she died, but I still remember her as if it were yesterday. She lived her last 20 yrs. with my Uncle Julian here in Virginia Beach,Va. the thing I remember most about her is that she always sat at the one end of the couch with a spittoon by her feet. That's cuz she dipped snuff.LOL!!!
