My name is mike mizell.if you give me about 6 months.I will have a 12 month old female I will put her up against any thing you got.ukc rules with a non hunting judge.in any type of ground you want to hunt.
If I did borrow a dog it would be tn trip.but I don't like borrowing dogs.

Did a Bat pup win the champion of champions hunt? There is good and bad in all. It's hard to take anything away from the positive impact Bat has had on the breed.

Is Bat the only stud that reproduces winners? NO

Are a lot of black dog followers envious,which turns into jealousy? YES

I LOVE A BLACK DOG. MY FAVORITE BREED.
I DONT HUNT BLACK DOGS BECAUSE OF THE JEALOUSY. I HAVE NEVER WITNESSED ONE GROUP OF PEOPLE PROCLAIMING TO WANT TO BETTER THE BREED THEN TURN RIGHT AROUND AND TEAR A DOG APART BECAUSE HE OR SHE APPEARS TO BE HELPING THAN THE BLACK DOG BREED ENTHUSIAST.

Why is it so hard for hunters as whole to say congratulations to one another and not knock a mans dog? It gains one nothing.

Oh and btw yes it is on my terms. Come to Bama where it's harder to tree coons and thinner. Where a dog actually has no choice but to kick in their and go hunting to find a coon

I don't own one but would like to. I have seen 3 different grand nites out of him go and also a nitech. Have been with a few out of cozar also. Time in other dogs is the only thing that's kept me from it. These dogs definitely had go in them, good tree dogs, and coon treers

I get teased about hunting black dogs some cuz of this board. The other breed owners read it and crack up. I'm not sure why people feel the need to downgrade another man's dog? I don't own a Batman dog jus hunted with some but his %s is impressive. What constitutes being a great one? I wonder why this breed is so clickish sometimes? I'm jus glad I'm not in one and not a jealous person.

Jamie I will agree to disagree. Black dog followers as a whole n my opinion are jealous and cliquish. Nothing will change my name on that. You I don't feel are that way because I know you are not colorblind. I wish all the best.

My one goal is to make my black gyp number one Black and Tan female reproducer without ever being bred to a black dog. Now that will be a topic of discussion if I get it done.

One thing that happens when a stud is breed to lot of females is some of those guys never intend to completion hunt. Like me I have a female out of litter of five pups. She goes deep , will tree a coon and trees hard. The other four out of the litter are Nite or Grand. She has never been in a nite hunt. I choose to hunt my male in the hunts. So to call her a cull ????? Will I guess that does make her the cull of that litter but she's still not for sale.

No. She would be listed on the black dog female list. They keep track of pups no matter if X bred or not.

The only thing I can tell you fellas is first off I don't have a dog in this fight, but I have been coon hunting for 35 yrs, and have had a many of pups from many different lines, and all I can say is when choosing a pup, or breeding your female you should 1 st hunt with a few pups from different females the stud your looking at too see if they are passing the traits your looking for and what will accommodate your female. I'm hunting a Batman Dog right now and really like him, and we are going to breed a female to Batman next week not because it's Batman but because I like what I see in his pups, the next time we breed her will be too something else we see we like.

The second thing as far as a Stud Dogs numbers of titled vs number of pups we all know in order to have a stud dog proven the pups have to get put in hands of people willing to push them in the hunts and hauled up and down the road, and there is not a large majority of people willing to spend there weekends at a hunt, looking at Batman's numbers it shows 498 pups but only 311 permanently registered that reflects what I am saying JMO

Boy after reading this thread I must say I'm a bit disappointed, I have always been a Blue Dog man. I have owned some super dogs but was always the butt of nasty comments by the Walker guys. I came to the conclusion that you just had to be a "DICK" to hunt a walker, it's the same way in competition archery. I have really been thinking about going to black dogs this time around but I continually come across these threads where B&T guys act like they want to fight with there own kind. What is the deal? Maybe the fellow got it right when he said the breed is full of jealously and cliques. Where are the real sportsmen these days?

I can't speak a lot about Batman or his pups because I have only been hunting with 2 of his pups, that I can remember. Kentucky River Hobie and my Batman dog.

I will say this, I was impressed enough with Hobie that I bought a Batman pup. It took me almost 4 years because I couldn't seem to get on any breeders list of future owners.

My pup, Jordan's Dark Knight, has been treeing is own coons and hunting alone since he was 10 months old. Won a first in UKC and a money in PK$ at 12 months old. He has no problem getting in the dark and hunting and doesn't need any help treeing a coon in any terrain. He isn't a perfect dog and still makes mistakes but I like him and proud to own him. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Batman pup if I was looking to buy.

He hasn't been in a UKC hunt since April (1st) but we gonna start putting him back in a few hunts this winter.
