Had a real good strike, put Joon down to start the track and she lined out quickly. Put Mercy in and decided to not add any more at that point. Thought we would turn in more when they cross a road. The girls went deep and rolled up treed.
When we got to the tree we thought they had a good boar up, the bear looked good.

A good mature bear

After having a good look at the bear, three more were up above in the tree.

Joon and Mercy

Mercy

Claudie and Joon

Last look at the big sow before we left.

You guys and gals always have the most awesome pictures. It certainly don't hurt when you have English dogs with those kinda looks either. Congrats on your photos and breeding program!!

This bear gave us a long run. Caine got hurt by this bear and was out for the rest of the hunt. We finally got more dogs turned in and it treed shortly after.
Clifford and Brandy were on the bear for the whole race, Joon, Mercy and Storm were turned in to help close the deal.

Storm, Brandy and Joon on the tree.

Storm suffered a little damage on this one too.

Thr bears all seemed to be in a bad mood this spring. The dogs struck along a creek and the chase was on. After several hours it crossed a road and fresh dogs were dumped in.
Smoke, Brandy, Clifford, Coby and Fancy treed after the long run.

Smoke, Clifford and Brandy on the tree. Coby in the back and Fancy out front. The sow didn't stay long after the dogs were tied back.

Our hounds made short work of this chase. This boar only ran 3 miles and treed. All the dogs made the run and rolled up treed together.
Sage, Danny, Smoke, Mercy, Patch, Rose and Clifford

Danny treeing back and Claudie catching Storm on the tree.

Mercy and Patch looking up at the boar.

We struck this bear, turned the dogs out and hoped for an easy run. Six hours later we finally got this bear stopped. Bad attitude and bayed up. Ended up with a low tree and VERY excited hunter.
Clifford had enough and took in some relaxing after the bear was shot out.

Danny and Sean taking a break.

Gorgeous cinnamon bear. Me and Mercy, Claudie, Rose and Sean.

Fancy and Claudie

Finally found some time to update this thread with some more hunts from our spring trip.
It shouldn't be hard to pick out this bear if we tree him again. His ears are pretty torn up.

He gave us a good run. He liked the path he had taken up the mountain. On his second time around the same track we dumped all the dogs we had with us cause the day was running out. We didn't have to dump the second wave cause he treed before the second bunch caught up.
Rose, Brandy and Clifford

The whole gang!

The next morning had a good hot strike. Let Joon down off the hood and the race was on. A few hours later this real nice black bear was sitting up this fir tree.

Bear sitting way up looking at Storm and Mercy treeing.

Joon, Mercy and Storm treed solid.

Later the same afternoon another strike and another black bear looking down out of a tree at a pack of Lightfoot hounds looking up wanting a little piece of that bear. This bear only ran a couple of miles before climbing this tree.

Charlie, Fancy, Mercy, Clifford, Storm and Patch

Fancy Mercy, Patch and Storm

Was watching a hunting show on tv today that was filmed in north west alberta, they sure had a lot of black bear in the area... I was thinking that Brian should look into doing a hunting with hounds show. From looking at all his pictures I bet he could make millions... It would have to be better than that lion hunter on mountain men..lol

Randy, wasn't sure what to expect for the show. It was interesting to see the perpective of someone else though. They did a good job though.
JRowe, the show was on the pursuit channel. It was called Tachycardia Outdoors.
Thanks Heather.

Its just about time to head back out to camp again for fall bear. I guess I should finish posting the pics from spring!
This sow took us across the country. We only had Smoke and Mercy on her to get the hunt started. They crossed an old road where we could see a track and chose not to add any dogs to the race. The dogs had her treed in about 4 miles.

Mercy and Smoke treed on another huge fir tree.

The next morning we struck another bear and the race was on. Six hours of baying and walking with this boar. What a beauty! Took these pictures off the dog camera.
