Questions, questions.

I have in my possession a book that has almost every ad ran on any redbone dog advertised in the last 15 years . I have kept all the ads that showed a pedigree. Sorry but I 'm not going to figure out who all is line bred and who ain't. I will tell you they all are all Timber Chopper bred.LOL.
I'm glad people can use this list however they like . I like to study it and the pedigrees. This list helps me determine the Supercross dogs and allows me to see along with the "Book" how these dogs are bred. If there's a young person out there and they want to breed their own stuff. The List is a very good way to help them pick dogs to start with. They can choose by ranking, percentages, Owner, Breeder, or pedigree "if you know them" gotta have The Book for that.

What I notice.
1. most of the stud % numbers have when up from last time.
2.Most the new dogs listed are out of dogs on the lists already or closely related.
3. 4 or 5 main family lines make up the majority of the list.
4. Supercrossing works
5. the female may be responsible for the male making the list. This is based on % only.
6.As I check now, the male list has been viewed 300 times more than the female list. and has 3 times the comments.
7. more people concentrate on the males than female side.

Richard, Bean was out of Lexis / Junior. I got her from Chris Snyder who made the cross when he owned Lexis.

It is too bad that a stud/dam has to get quite a bit of age on them before the public can really see what they’re reproducing. I see on the girls list that John Biggert asked which dogs on the lists were still alive. Like Kelly said, I hate to list one the wrong way, but I think there are several on this males list that are still alive. Maybe their owners would post on here if they are?

I will say that # 34, NITECH Two Worlds Collide, is still alive and well. Aubrey hunted him quite a bit last fall, and his youngest litter is 6 months. He just got 2 more NITECH 2 weeks ago, and has a couple more with 1st place wins. On a side note, we have another stud here that didn’t quite make the list this time, NITECH GRFCH GRWCH GRCH PR Red Fever Razor’s Rip N Tear, but will almost definitely be on their next time (if Kelly does it again). His current % is something like 5.2% (3 NITECH out of 58 pups with 3 more with at least a 1st place win), and he is out of #1 on the males list and # 12 on the females list……I suppose you would say he is from a “supercross”.

Thanks for doing the list Kelly. It is some good reading.

Smile Great list

Great tool and it got me to thinking.
Consider this thought. Some people are succeful breeders/hunters and some are just successful hunters.
Consider this: Breeder crosses 2 very good dogs, then places those pups in the hands of good solid hunters. Good hunters work hard and take those pups to their potential and make them GRNTCh. Now those good hunters may not be inclined to do much breeding, they are hunters not breeders. So the potential of those GRNT pups to reproduce does not get recognised, so the breed looses here.
Just something I hadn't really thought of. We always think about getting the pups in the hands of good hunters, don't get me wrong, that is very very important. But how do we continue this on out? I myself am guilty of being a capable hunter, then not doing a bunch of breeding.
So for the breed to really prosper, the good hunters need to get those good dogs back in the hands of capable breeders at the age of 3 or 4.
Something to think about.
PS: I get attached to the real good ones, so this wouldn't be easy :-).

Isn't it amazing that the numbers have changed in just 3 short weeks. But as the numbers change, the lists don't really change all that much.

Puppy Hunts

One way you could solve the problem of the Stud not getting credit until he is dead or just too old is this. Get the information sooner. Most people don't want to compete with a puppy against seasoned hounds. So just Create a puppy division. Or a derby division. Only hounds less than two can compete. Make the guidelines a little more forgiving maybe, or keep them the same, doesn't matter. The cream will rise.. A puppy could possibly earn a puppy title but the Sire and Dam will earn points according to how their puppies do in the puppy circuit or you may call it the derby circuit. This would show results quicker and would also show what hounds are throwing really fast learners.. Just an idea...

Oh my goodness, that Hyde feller made his own list back when he was breeding Redbones. Slick, maybe you could do that instead of just complaining about the one in the magazine. Maybe everyone that is looking for a stud could just call UKC and have their own list made up. That way we could manipulate the data however we wanted.
