I have had a good dog killed on the road. And if u think that roads are a bad way of deciding where to hunt then u don't think much of your hound.

I'm not saying i dont care about my dog and I agree I wouldn't hunt right on a busy road either. All I'm saying is that Based on ohio having more roads is a bad excuse to cross the state off to hold a hunt! It is no more dangerous to hunt here than it is anywhere else!

really it more than likely needs to be moved around more,if any big hunt stays in one place for servel years, as we found out ,after haveing the pkc world hunt here for 25 pius years . the clubs get tire, the farmers and game warden get to fussing and a lot of other things. With allthe hunts in that area now it want be long until you see thangs go down hill. JMOP

Also the member ship does have to aproved what the committe comes up with,or thats what is in the yr. book.

Mr. Maggart your fine!! I don't normally get involved in these B&T board debates but for what ever reason I felt the need to involve myself today! I felt that the way I worded my previous post could have been taken the wrong way so I was just clarifying what I ment!!

Where does it say in the yearbook that membership approves where the committee has chosen for B&T Days to be?

PG. 7 ARTICLE V11 SECTION D.

If it is the decison of just 3 people ,i guess the president can just apoint the one,s from ever were he wants b&t days to be.

i have no ideal were all these things are writen down, but it was voted on and passed that the membership would vote on to aprove or reject .Not sure but i thank it was the same yr. that it was changed to anounce at b&t days were it was to be the next yr.
There are a lot of other,s that remember this also.

Here is the bylaw your talking about.
Section D. All business submitted by vote to the general membership shall be decided by a majority vote of the members present at their regular annual meeting, except as otherwise stipulated; in this Constitution.

This is not something that is brought before the general membership so its not voted on before the general membership.

In article X Section B. Vice President duties of the V Pres. point number 3. Chair the Black and Tan Days Location Committee.
It goes onto to say his committee will review all bids and make a decision(a vote of the committee) as to where it will be held the next year. The V Pres will then let the Pres. know then the board and officers. It then says the Pres will sign the contract and then the Pres of the host club will sign the contract along with the Secretary. Then the general membership will be told where it will be held. This is all in the bylaws.

Ok, I'm done with this. You can beleive me or not but I know what I have read in our constitution and bylaws. My memory sure isn't good enough to go on what happened 3 or 4 yrs ago...LOL

I have all the minutes from every meeting for the present back to 1982. I have read them ALL and it is not in there. Many members complain about the length of the membership meeting and this year we are going to try some different things to try to shorten the meeting. Can you imagine how long the meeting would be if the membership was asked to vote on location of B&T Days? The procedure we have now has been used for many, many years. The section in the Constitution that Larry is talking about says all business submitted to the membership for a vote shall be decided by a majority vote. The location of B&T days does not get submitted for a vote.

Bnt days site for the next year was usually announced at Autumn Oaks. I do remember the year that it was brought before the general membership meeting to change this format to announcing the next years BNT Days site at the general membership meeting at BNt days it passed unanimously. The first year of this change it would have been a short window from Autumn Oaks to BNT days to have the next years Site announced. At Autumn Oaks it was announced that Flora Il. would have BNt days the next year and had a guaranteed 2yr. bid with a 3 year bid optional. The 3 year bid would be voted on at the general membership meeting and it was voted against and turned down by the memberships the following year. What this did is open up new locations available that fairgrounds would have plenty of time to get this in there scheduled events. It also makes for a better bid as fairboards are not waiting to see if they have acquired this event but know way in advance and aren't turning an event down in the waiting process. It also gives the members a year to schedule and know where the location is at. A win win for the Association and everyone involved.

OHIO

I would love to see B&T days in OH, because I would get to hunt it for once. I haven't been back to flora since a drunk guy un zipped my tent and past out in it. I don't consider Flora a faimly place because of all the drinking that goes on in the park. If your not there a week ahead of time you have to camp in the park to be in the shade. The bath rooms are a joke and the place is always a mud hole. I have been all over the US to other majior events and breed days and enjoyed myself. I didn't get to hunt when it was in Greencastle IN but it was a really nice grounds to stay on. One plus being in OH is everyone has a chance to win, you can't be dry holed. You still have a chance of putting up 1200 on wild coon, and can compete with cast that have feeded buckets. Yes, there are roads, I hunt off ST. RT's everynite the thing is there are so many coon you get treed and have no reason to get on the rd. Only time I see the rd as an issue is with a dog that don't hunt and just runs around or bust a deer. I don't put cast on big rds because of that. I could care less if it is in OH but it needs to be moved to allow others to be able to attend. Is it really for the better of the breed to keep a hunt in on place because it's cheep. REALLY. Here I thought it was about being able to show the quility of B&T's. It's funny to think that this area is good enough to hold world and Nat'l events but not good enough for B&T days.
