That is like saying I drink 3 cups of coffee every morning to get rolling. Oh wait there are probably 3 to 4 cups in each mug. Some cups are just bigger.lol

I feed Diamond Extreme Athlete. My young dog that I'm hunting 3-5 nights a week eats a little over 2 cups a day at 50#. He is perfectly fit and muscular, no ribs or bones showing but thin and very muscular. My 4 year old female gets 2 cups of DEA a day and has been in heat for last 2 weeks and she is a tad overweight.

I'll post pics later

I also feed extreme athlete 2.5 cuos wich equals right about 1.10lbs. Jog them next to the truck 2 miles 5 days a week on top of hunting them 3-5 nights a week look best I've ever seen them

I will say that the food Im feeding now, Hunters Blend, I do have to feed a tad more than the Diamond. I have never used the EA, but I fed High Energy for years. I always thought that was top notch food. I do like the Hunters Blend, and at $19/50lb bag, Ill take that over the $35/40lb bag of Diamond. I started feeding Diamond it was $22/50lb bag. Now, it's $32.99 at Orschlens! Oh well, the Hunters Blend is very good in my opinion.>>Jim Harper

Victor

I'm feeding victor also. I had them on the 26/18 for a while and just switched to the 24/20. A few of mine got a little loose on the 26/18, so that's why I switched. (All of my dogs are wormed regularly and up to date on their shots) There doing good again. My beagles get 1 1/2 cups a day. My coon hounds get 3-4 cups a day 40-60# dogs. Now my Dozer dog has been getting hunted quite a bit and he's an 80-85# dog. I feed him about 5 cups a day. He is solid muscle.

Not all dogs are the same and surely not all people are the same. So what I'm saying here is that we can all agree to disagree. What works off one may not work for others.

Victor 26/18 and 24/20 are both $37 for a 40# bag

Bald spots on a dog are mostly caused by a fungus infection not the dogs feed lol

Yeah been feedin 24/20 last 2 months im close to the bottom of the bag.Feed the the 26/18 for a couple months and figured the reason they were slim was due to the cold weather we were havin so I went to 24/20.I know thats a bad mix,for the warm weather that just showed up.Im not to proud of the way they look.Thats a 5 cups aday. What you feedin?

Just to clarify. When I say a cup, I'm not talking about a solo cup, a coffee cup, or any other drinking cup. A cup, is one measuring cup just like you have in your kitchen. A small one pound coffee can is exactly 4 measuring cups of victor dog food. My dogs food is measured every day. My dogs are wormed every month. And my dogs look good.

My beagles get 1 1/2 cups a day. My coon hounds get 3-4 cups a day 40-60# dogs. Now my Dozer dog has been getting hunted quite a bit and he's an 80-85# dog. I feed him about 5 cups a day. He is solid muscle.

Your cup needs to be for dry matter. It is bigger than the one moms used in the kitchen. They should put a cup in every other bag of dog food. That way everyone would be on the same page.

I get a kick out of some of the "reasoning" mentioned on here. "Everyone will tell you my dogs are in top shape and they get Purina Dog Chow." Sorry, I call shenanigans, it is impossible. But hey, whatever floats your boat. You can't "see" a dog in top shape, top shape can only be evaluated by performance. If you don't have the experience of evaluating physical output, rest/recovery, anaerobic patterns, and a host of other things that aren't printed on a bag of feed....you are talking out of your azz. If your dog is in shape on cheap feed, it speaks to the genetic make-up of the dog. That same dog on a much better, cleaner burning feed conditioned for maximum anaerobic output, will redefine in your mind of what "top" shape really is. If you are feeding cheap, you aren't doing the best for your dog and you don't have any idea of what the dog is truly capable of. In the end, both you and him loose, regardless of what kind of argument you can craft on a message board.

I swapped to diamond naturals here while back. Actually having to feed more of it than my old corn feed. I will use it until hot weather this yr. Just to see if what csnowgren is right about em recovering faster or not.Im now feeding them about 4 cups a day each. They both about 55 lbs.

WOW 5 cups!

You should really change to something else.

24/20 is a little too much for summer anyways.
For a hunting dog.

I feed sportmix and its a 20/8 dog food.
Fall time I feed a 26/18
Winter time I feed a 24/20

2 cups a day and everyone of my hounds are in shape. 2 1/2 cups in the winter time.
And feeding the right dog food will make a difference in there color and performance.
I give 12.00 for a 40lb bag of Sportmix.
Cheap right and the price is the same weather I get 20/8, 26/18, or 24/20.
I've been feeding Sportmix for a couple years and every dog that I have had at my place has eatin it and stays looking good.
My opinion anyone feeding over 3 cups a day is wasting there money.
