John not sure exactly where you're at in New York but I know the PA Game Commission released a lot of Fishers in north central PA all the wY to the NY state line quite a few years ago to try and control the porkypine population......could possibly have migrated north. I've only ever seen one

It was a Fisher they have moved into the area! We saw one cross the road and a couple guys south of us treed a couple this fall. Their hides are worth a lotta money more than a coon or fox but bad news is they will kill all small coon, rabbits and squirrells they are agile in the trees they like to climb the leaners
