I've been involved with my club over 10 yrs. Had 1 question brought back. I've probably missed 3 hunts in those ten yrs. Been to a majority of our pkc hunts to. Never a question. No telling how many hunts that is. I've been to countless other hunts all over Ga. Only saw a couple questions and have saw none since hunt director format came out. I guess they don't wanna pay. I do think most folks believe as mauser does. They think its not worth it. Of course if you come to my club. We all know each other. We are going to cut up and carry on. Im not going to cheat for em though. Guys have to got to let the clubs know or Ukc.

I feel like if I go back to the club or file complaints there are enough of them guys at those clubs that are "in on it" to say I am full of it...even if 2-3-4 of us "outsiders" did it together it still looks like the club and the local guys would lie and win the complaints...

A lot of the MOH have all recently quit..or stopped..most clubs went way down hill it seems...

I don't know what the best thing to do would be...if it was just me I am smart enough to say "hey maybe its just me and I need to suck it up.." but when my buddy has identical stories from the same club but different cast it makes you wonder...

I am laid back..easy going and quiet...I am not out there to cause trouble, arguments etc...anyone that knows me knows its nearly impossible to get me fired up or upset...most people that are close to me have never seen it because it rarely happens...I'm not that guy....

I love coon hunting and I love seeing good dogs hunt...I used to like competition hunting for all the reasons y'all do....good nites in the woods..making some new friends..telling stories and jokes...seeing other dogs hunt...comparing your dog to others and seeing how he measures up...

Just lately I feel like I can't take it anymore...its no longer enjoyable for me...

There is nothing wrong with feeling like you do!!!

I will rerun just one cast (of maybe a couple of dozen) that caused me to quit===1960's 4 hour hunt, 3 dog cast, A,B&C I was the Judge. Dog A&B opened 1st & 2nd and barked all over the woods for about an hour. Dog C [my dog] opened on the other side of the road for 3rd strike. after a short run, he treed for 1st tree. Dogs A&B quit; and came across the road to join him for A 2nd an B 3rd tree. Coon was seen and points plused. we recast, dog A struck and ran the time out; Dogs B&C never opened again===Dog A 1st strike 100 points 2nd tree 75==175+ total Dog B 2nd strike 75 points 3rd tree 50==125+ total. Dog C 3rd strike 50 points 1st tree 100== 150+ total

Dog A won the cast; after my dog had treed the only coon!!! Whats a man suppose to do. The owner of Dog A still brags about the time he beat my Plott!!!!

I competition hunted 4 years and made 4 nitech and just said""TO HELL WITH IT THIS IS NO FUN"" I never entered another hunt!!! I'm in my 80's now and like nothing better than to sit in the woods and listen io the Frogs,Crickets, Owls and my Plotts working a Coon track.

You cannot judge a coon dog with a score card They have to be judged at the end of a track.

Plott, you're right...I don't need a scorecard to know what I got on the end of my lead...maybe the competition circle isn't for me...

Maybe I will make my dog a nitech and quit there. He deserves a title...and I feel like Trackman deserves another titled dog...both the pups we kept are really nice..my dogs litter mate brother has been to a bunch more hunts and is a grand nite and they aren't 2 yet...and if we pleasure hunt with a score card my pup usually comes out on top...I feel like I am failing my dog if I walk away...and I don't know why I feel like that....he don't know when he wins or looses...he don't know he doesn't have a title...he knows his name is Duke...he knows I feed him and I am his buddy and his master and his #1 goal in life is to tree coon for me and he loves doing it and does a fine job doing it...

I also feel like quitting is letting the cheaters have their way....they won..they got rid of me...they can have their clubs and hunts all to themselves....

I think I will continue with it for now...pick and choose my notes and the clubs I attend...continue to support clubs that have good hunts and not support the bad ones..and if needed file complaints and see if I can get others to file complaints on judges and clubs...

The hunt director format IMO makes problems like mine worse....why pay 20$ to go back to have a panel made up of the buddies buddies to farther break it off in me??

then I file a formal complaint and UKC asks the club and they say I'm nuts and. then I just look like a fool...

The only way would be if I can get others to ban together and fight against the dirt balls...all I can do is try...

My buddy had a guy in his cast get mad and withdraw because of the corrupt scoring...and I've seen others do it in casts too....those guys are always like me...they travel around to different clubs...I feel like when the buddies see an outsider in a cast they know what to do and how to win....reality is they are hurting their own clubs in the long run...you get a couple of the same dogs showing up at a club and winning and UKC wants to know why attendance is so low and why the same guys win....

Ill be honest. Use to comp hunt when i was younger in the 90s. Was thinking about getting my kids into it but i dont want them to feel cheated or think their dogs that they have been working hard with is less then another mans dog.
The more i read these stories about how casts are ran the more the wife and i debate on even letting our girls show the dogs.

Ive been hunting for close to 35 years and got into the hunts in 1988 . Ive only questioned or had to question a call 1 time and put up my
$25 and the panel didnt go my way . I worked the system as I should . It was a 2 to 2 vote in the woods so my money was returned . I can live with that and have no hard feelings . I have however noticed in last three years that some guys will try and pitch , bend rule , anything to see if they can get away with it . All that I have had to do to rectify the situation is simply know the rules respectfully call them on their bull snot and the hunt cleans up quick . Im not afraid to stand up for myself and why anyone would allow someone to basically steal from them without speaking up question card signing in the grey etc is amazing . If they are cheating their not your friends and if they get offended so be it . Its a big deal to file a complaint on a club if they are not operating correctly they get put on probation it usually doesnt fair well for the club .If someone steals something from one guy and that guy sells it to you and you wont tell where you bought it your as guilty as the guy that sold stolen merchandise to you . Out those scoundrels ! Just to Note I want to commend the Shangaloo LA club as well as Minden I look forward to coming back and I cant remember the Judges name in my cast but he was hunting a big winner and was as quick to minus his dog probably unjustly as anyones . Well Judged cast great time just bad weather . And Casey Dooley judged at Minden also did a great job . There are solid Ladies and Gentlemen at these clubs all around the country in both KC so when you run across a deseased rotten scoundrel dog sometimes you have to cull them so list this club and bad judges so we can all save our gas money and blood pressure meds by not supporting them or at least be on our A game handling and carry extra cash to question or file . Sorry for the lengthy rambling .

Everyone to my knowledge was satisfied and happy at these hunts. In my opinion, there are more people badmouthing the hunts than what there are problems at the hunts. I probably go to more hunts than most and it is rare that I see cheats or problems. Most of the people who are on here bashing the hunts are the ones who do NOT do there homework before the hunts. To have a winner, you have to put the time in the weeks ahead of the hunt as you already know.

To be honest, when I read all the complaints of cheating going on at the clubs, it really makes me wonder how many of these people complaining have paid very many entry fees, because I, like you Jim, sure don't see as much as I am reading about. Yes, I have been cheated, but it has been very rare that it happens. I have never seen a sporting event that has crybabies such as coonhunting does.

I would say this about says it all. 9 hunts a person would have thought that If the cheating is as bad as some say that something would have been observed.

GREAT IDEA. If you know those rules in and out its hard to get cheated.

If i got cheated its because somebody went blind on my coon. I can count on one hand how many times that has happened, and i have hunted in close to 100 casts. And it was the same person each time. Sometimes you just have to let it go. But i can assure you he got his medicine and he'll get it from me every time i draw him.

One of my biggest pet peeves on a cast, is always be respectful and kind, win or lose. People will start treating you the same way and you will have less and less arguing every time you draw out.

Don't be afraid to go to hunts. All KC's need more entries.
