All I can say is I must be the unluckiest guy around because I never draw these titled dogs that can't tree their own coon!

I do not know how anyone in the world can consider having a HTX title means a dog can tree it's own coon.

Not in my book, especially when you can walk hunt it for 15 minutes. I have a pup here that's been in the woods 2x and I can walk her over a hot coon and get her to tree on it by herself!

HTX means very little.

How much does GRNTCH really mean? You can make a dog a Grntch in 8 hunts. In the big picture, what does winning 8 casts really prove when their are dogs out there that win 8+ casts a month for several months... Some dogs win 100+ casts. A poodle can make ntch... If you have a dog that will tree you will eventually make it Grntch If you go to enough.

surely everyone who hunts the hunts realizes all a grand nite has done is win as few as 8 hunts.... people dont put much stock in a grand nite only i wouldnt think.... if they do they will learn quickly or waste lots of money

Seriously, I think most coonhunters are smart enough to understand what each title means. HTX dogs may not be capable of beating any other dog in head to head comp, but can tree a coon on their own. Gr Nites can beat many dogs in head to head but may not be able to tree coon on their own. Show dogs might not be able to tree a coon. Hunt dogs might not be pretty.

Each title represents a different quality looked for in a coon dog. How hard is it to understand that?

I agree. I have the HTX degree on a few of my dogs and inspected several others on their way to getting it. All the HTX shows is that you have a dog that can tree a coon by itself. No more, no less. Doesn't say how well it does it. In my opinion it doesn't prove that it is a "Coon Dog" either.

I can tree a coon by myself. I've got it... Lets just change up everything!!! We've got the first quad grand Plott and redbone, youngest Grntch, first leopard Grntch... How about the first human ntch!!!! Makes about as much sense as this thread.

I may not agree with you politically, but finally a moment of clarity.

Took my 5m pup to SC state, saw her first coon AND barked her little head off! She will hopefully grow up and show well. point is: I know what they are bred for. and because I dont hunt them doesnt mean they cant. To each his own. If you want to hunt and feed and ugly dog, that's ur choice, but Im not going to do it and that's MY choice.

They are no better than the people involved. I am not putting anyone into this catagory. I know/think most dogs earn it honestly. But just like anything else, you have the same ole people getting together doing the same ole crap. On the other side of the coin, I went to one HTX hunt to just visit and drink coffee and it was about as honest as it could be. NO DOG PASSED that night. LOL Now that is honest.

Jeez. I put HTX titles on a couple of my dogs just so no one could claim my worthless titled dogs cant tree a coon by themselves. After reading this thread I guess that HTX title is worthless too. Lol. I don't know why I even bother. Lol.
On a serious note I enjoy the HTX hunts. Everyone has allways been layed back and honest in any of the events I've been to. Also just because you have a coondog that does it on its own everytime does'nt mean your gonna pass every hunt test. I've had one of my GrNts make 3 trees in the hr in 1 test and they were a den and thick pines/hemlocks. If you cant find the coon you wont get a pass either. I know, I know. My worthless GrNt probally did'nt even have a coon in any of those trees. Lmao.

If anyone here thinks that UKC is willing to loose 1 single penny for some coonhunters opinion, is not living in reality!

They could care less about making anything honest and fare as long as the greenbacks are rolling in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
