WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon needs to budget $12.6 billion each year through 2037 to finish developing and paying for all the Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighters it plans to buy, according to a report released by a congressional watchdog agency on Monday.

The report said the Pentagon was expected to shell out $316 billion through 2037 on the remaining development and purchase of the radar-evading warplane, on top of billions of dollars already spent, for a total program cost of around $400 billion.

you want the short list?
papermaking, the compass, gunpowder, and printing.

or the long list?

The Chinese invented technologies involving mechanics, hydraulics, and mathematics applied to horology, metallurgy, astronomy, agriculture, engineering, music theory, craftsmanship, nautics, and warfare. By the Warring States Period (403–221 BC), they had advanced metallurgic technology, including the blast furnace and cupola furnace, while the finery forge and puddling process were known by the Han Dynasty (202 BC – AD 220). A sophisticated economic system in China gave birth to inventions such as paper money during the Song Dynasty (960–1279). The invention of gunpowder by the 10th century led to an array of inventions such as the fire lance, land mine, naval mine, hand cannon, exploding cannonballs, multistage rocket, and rocket bombs with aerodynamic wings and explosive payloads. With the navigational aid of the 11th-century compass and ability to steer at high sea with the 1st-century sternpost rudder, premodern Chinese sailors sailed as far as East Africa and Egypt.[2][3][4] In water-powered clockworks, the premodern Chinese had used the escapement mechanism since the 8th century and the endless power-transmitting chain drive in the 11th century. They also made large mechanical puppet theaters driven by waterwheels and carriage wheels and wine-serving automatons driven by paddle wheel boats.

The contemporaneous Peiligang and Pengtoushan cultures represent the oldest Neolithic cultures of China and were formed around 7000 BC.[5] Some of the first inventions of Neolithic, prehistoric China include semilunar and rectangular stone knives, stone hoes and spades, the cultivation of millet, rice and the soybean, the refinement of sericulture, the building of rammed earth structures with lime-plastered house floors, the creation of the potter's wheel, the creation of pottery with cord-mat-basket designs, the creation of pottery tripods and pottery steamers, and the development of ceremonial vessels and scapulimancy for purposes of divination.[6][7] Francesca Bray argues that the domestication of the ox and buffalo during the Longshan culture (c. 3000–c. 2000 BC) period, the absence of Longshan-era irrigation or high-yield crops, full evidence of Longshan cultivation of dry-land cereal crops which gave high yields "only when the soil was carefully cultivated," suggest that the plow was known at least by the Longshan culture period and explains the high agricultural production yields which allowed the rise of Chinese civilization during the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600–c. 1050 BC).[8] With later inventions such as the multiple-tube seed drill and heavy moldboard iron plow, China's agricultural output could sustain a much larger population.
For the purposes of this list, inventions are regarded as technological firsts developed in China, and as such does not include foreign technologies which the Chinese acquired through contact, such as the windmill from the Middle East or the telescope from Early modern Europe. It also does not include technologies developed elsewhere and later invented separately by the Chinese, such as the odometer and chain pump.

I'll take that as "No I cannot list anything positive to come out of the Obama regime".
I am not blameing obama for the economy(barney frank),My problem with obama is that he has done nothing positive. He hasn't done the job of the president. When he finally has time to get around to the economy or federal budget, his proposals are so far fetched even the democrats will not vote for them.Show me one other president in history who has showen such disregard for the Constitution and the economy.Show me one other President who has constantly tried to shove taxes and liberty limiting laws down our throats.Show me one other time in history when the US military was percieve as this weak.
I guess what I would like to know is ,Why did you vote again for obama, and ,Are you satisfied with the job he has done?
And to list the waste, how about the last four years?

OMG. You right wingers ALMOST got me there. For about 15 seconds I actually thought you may have had compassion for another human being. I fell for it up to this point...

Occupants must share toilets and washing facilities, which are rudimentary. Many of the apartments have no kitchens, forcing their impoverished residents to spend there meagre incomes on takeaway food.

The cage homes have been a running scandal in Hong Kong's housing market for decades, yet rather than disappear, they are on the rise.

As the world economic crisis has lashed the city a former British territory whose economy is focused on financial services, more have been forced to turn to them for a place to stay.

The alternative is life on the streets.

I suddenly remembered you don't even care for your fellow Americans that are in the same shape. What was I thinking?

rance... who has more people living below their set poverty line? Tell me again why do you have more compassion for the people of china than you do for your fellow Americans? Maybe truly ain't the one who choses to overlook china, maybe you just overlook how a large portion of your own Country lives.

So you're admitting Obama has failed miserably at taking care of our own country while continually sending money(millions upon millions) to other countries?
Glad you finally owned up to the failure.

first off, stop doing the progressive lies and putting words in mouth and making them like they are statements of fact. and second,

why dont you get a clue. the povery line in china is UNDER $2 a day. compare that to what it is in america. vastly different my uniformed friend. and most in china are living in poverty do to lack of any other opportunity, not the case here in america.

Wing in my opinion, and it's just that my opinion so you take it for what it's worth. Poverty is just like what you said, it's where you set the line. In China, and Zambia for example two countries I'm somewhat familiar with. The people who consider themselves in poverty suffer from severe malnutrition, they consider themselves lucky if they get a bowl of corn gruel, and risk freezing to death in the winter. One village, I know of in Zambia got running water for the first time a month ago. They where able to take a cold shower for the first time in their lives. They where literally dancing in the streets.

The people I see in our country who consider themselves in poverty live in section 8 housing, and far more of them suffer from obesity, than malnutrition. They believe they are in poverty because they don't have a phone, air conditioner, car, or tv.

This is not a blanket statement their are exceptions in both cases!!! But in my opinion the people who consider themselves in poverty in these other countries, would crawl 100 miles to pick through our poverty stricken people's trash!! We live in a Blessed country, and should be thankful for it!!!

A clue? Here's a clue for you from my post...

who has more people living

below

THEIR

set poverty line?

And since you seem to have overlooked what was wriiten in BOLD letters from the website..
quote:
Definition of Population below poverty line: National estimates of the percentage of the population falling below the poverty line are based on surveys of sub-groups, with the results weighted by the number of people in each group. Definitions of poverty vary considerably among nations. For example, rich nations generally employ more generous standards of poverty than poor nations.
Heres a statement of fact since you seem to be avoiding it... 2.8% of china lived below the poverty level THEIR leaders set for THEM and 15.1% of Americans lived below the poverty level THEIR leaders set for THEM in 2010.

I may or may not worked in a soup kitchen, I might even had to eat at one once and I may or may not helped org's, family, friends, man with a tin cup but I do know one thing. I never had to use examples of others misfortune of being poor enough to have to live in a 6x3 wire cage to prove my point, laughing, to truly to convience him how dumb I think he is. Before I ask someone to give me examples "from this great empire of china" I think you would at least know the empire of china was from 221BC to 1912AD.

you do not have the intellectual capacity to have a decent conversation with. who cares what one country calls poverty and the other doestn, it all comes down to the stanadrd of living to that person and their are those that are not consiedered in poverty in china that would beg to live in the usa at what we term poverty levels. how hard is that to understand? from the quote you used on the website explains it real simple. its amazing you cant grasp that. but here it is again.

"Definitions of poverty vary considerably among nations. For example, rich nations generally employ more generous standards of poverty than poor nations."

as far as china an empires. all context regarding the conversation was around communist china today that has been lendign us money and what that oppresion of the people does to limit free thinking an innovation there.

btw, ill ask again since you keep saying we dont care bout the poor, just what soup kitchens are you volunterring at to help the poor out that you claim you care so much about, and how much are you donating to the poor?

I grasp it just fine. You would rather be homeless in a cardboard box in America than living in a 6x3 cage in china. America..china...china...America eh. Who cares right? Go ahead and set that line just where ever you think.

Don't blame me you the one who ask truly the question, then told him how dumb he was for giving you a somewhat correct answer. The thread started out on government waste but didn't stay there long did it? Conhtr1 had to correct your own question, and trulys reply was the dumbest thing you ever read on this board? Really? Cause the wording of that question should be pushing a close second.

How much to I give to charity/family/friends? I know it ain't near worth the amount of the liquor you spill every year but hey, ain't everybody got it like you got it hotshot.

you keep dodging that question, huh. makes you wonder why someone who is always saying other folks dont care about poor cant easily give examples of how they are personally doing their part.

by the way, you left off that I'm a limousine ridin', jet flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin' son of a gun. WOOOO!
