Tight mouth dogs can win and win big with a good handler. Chenoweth's Smokey II won the Purina Championship and I know of another not a B&T that won the Purina Championship that was tight mouthed also.. Another blk dog finished in the Top 20 of the UKC World......You can win with a tight dog but you have to know how to handle......something the pro handlers know how to do...

The guy handling Bear Jr sure wasn't a pro handler. If the dog is darn good it can make a handler look like a pro!

Todd

Barney is as tight as they come on track and I never had one before him and it took me some time to get it all figured out. what I see is he can get by himself easy likes to be by himself. most of the time if he is with dogs he is out front and way out front. also it seems to me that he does alot of drifting. he will shut a lot of hounds out of the tree when he gets by himself I have won every cast in ukc with him that i have put him in 1st at south eastern black and tan days a 2nd at local hunt club and won cast friday night at Grand America. He bread like yours some what you will get less strike points but for the most part 125 plus ukc 100 plus pkc and I say plus becouse a tight dog is very accurate mine has a coon just about every time he gets treed. so you can win with him and I would say you will like him better and better as he gets older 1 last thing good luck and if you dont like him call me i will take him

Timbuktu and LR Rex were both 3rd and 4th strike dogs. But 1st tree dogs. And they would stay treed under pressure. Buk was a lot like Trusty but a little more open on track. I have seen all 3 of those dogs throw their heads up and take off on a track and not say a word until they were well out in front of other dogs. Smart!!!

pkc

I have to dissagree on the pkc and recasting for 25 all nite. In OH, IN, MI were I hunt the name of the game is drop and pop. It's nothing to hunt 6 to 8 woods in a pkc hunt. You have to get in the top 4 to hunt for the big money. Even our hr hunts we make 2 or 3 drops. So I guess it depends on where your hunting the dog, my be better off to stay in thin coon.
