Track dogs are born not made........ Dogs do get better with experience ... Any level of a dogs ability to smell he has to have the BRAIN POWER to run the right way....... Back trackin is a culling offence in my book,,,,, Have seen dog run tracks according to which way their head is turned when the hit the track and never got better could not stop them from it ..... TOO STUPID <<<< BANG problem solved dont breed more of the same

Back tracking

In my little bit of Experiance, through the years the hounds that iv observed with the worst Back tracking are the colder nosed hounds , if a hound cant figure it out he should do one of two things either quit it all together or move on to somthing else.
the good ones learn to drift some on a cold track and not get bogged down. that takes braines. i owned a female a few years ago that was High style and Harry Bread.she was High style on top and harry on the bottom, She was a a classy little track dog cause she wouldent beat on one long before shed move ahead and pick it up in another spot, she was as accurate on the tree as any hound iv ever hounted with, and could flat run and tree a coon.......
