I've climbed a ton of em' , and the ones I couldn't I climbed as far as I could and used a limb saw to cut the limb out from under em' .

It aint ever ruined a dog that wasn't gonna be ruined anyway ... T-Ball said it best ... the cry of a saw or ringing of an axe is the best way to make a stay put coondog ... if the dog knows that getting a real live coon is important to you then it makes em' that much better .

But , like most everyone else ... you have that moment when you are way , way up and that tree is swaying and you look down and realize you've pushed your luck as far as you dare .... I climb the easy ones a little now or will climb easy dens to check my dog but don't do the silly stuff i used to.
