Sooner Cooners club bench show and nite hunt only averaged 32.4 entries per event last year the smallest being 20. with the field trials and water races added to the total we averaged 51.9 entries. Nite hunt only we averaged 18.3 entries.

can't wait to see everyone again this year!

most folks won't go to hunts that they know are only a few dogs because it will cost them performance money. if there were less clubs there would be larger entries and if the clubs would give something away other than a yellow piece of paper it would help. I've heard clubs say they can't afford too but they really can't afford not too. our club tries to give back to the folks that come spend their money. we give a set of awards away at every event and that don't include the dog food and lights we give away. our club spends around $3000 yearly on 7 events for fees, food, awards, ect. it sure takes lots of money and work.

Do you reckon its easier to title a dog out with less entries? I'd say yes. Is it all about the numbers? No. As long as people are enjoying themselves and their clubs are not going under. But good numbers, and I'll say 10 and over on the night hunt, breed better competition! And even 10 ain't great, but a club can probably make it on 10 entries and you'll have at least 3 cast. It would be great if some clubs would combine, and it seriously might come to that one day????

Mr harp,
How many of those entries are club memebers? Ive noticed if it is a stronger club ( member participation) they have good numbers. Our club usually has more for $kc than ukc. I am fairly certain if we had more members show up to at least hunt or at the minimum guide are numbers would be consisitantly better. I believe this is part of the problem with most clubs.

At least one club member per cast i would say. We have some great guides and very seldom have dead casts but it does happen. We also have some great guides from other local clubs that come and help.
