Thanks Luke for the pics of your young dog. He sure looks stylish.
Hopefully he continues to get the blood boiling in the night air. I am glad that you selected him as a puppy. He got in the right hands with you.
Some of the others of this cross are impressive also.
Be looking forward to seeing you at the Nationals again this year at Holmesville. Maybe he might be ready for the young guns Divn.
Best of luck with him.

Thanks Bill. He is still a big pup and has plenty of matureing to do, and plenty to learn yet. I can tell you for certain he is a tree dog and got a heck of a mouth. Tons of potential, we will put the miles on him and see what happens! I work construction and am off most of the winter, so I will be hunting him every chance I get the next month. When the weather warms and I get busy he will go to partner, Ken Kinnear a couple hours west of me to hunt. Ken is blessed with the retired life and likes to hunt 5 or 6 nights a week.

Im not really full of knowledge on Sam's top side but im IN LOVE with the bottom side of this dog! goes back to GR NT Moyers Chubbs and GR NT Davis's Scooter dog 5-6 times! Ive been asking around about Sam and what his pups are doing and im impressed! Everyone overwhelminly likes the Sam dog (one said he might be a little quiet on track?) but was sure enough a COONDOG! Sam only has 2 litters on the ground right now with the oldest being 10 months old...........Pups are looking and sounding like the right kind also. A little bit of SAM might be coming to Kansas soon!! I hear that Bill Hubbard just might know what a coondog is also??

Thanks Chris,
Glad you like the bottom side of Sam. Yes he goes back to some of the better dogs of the past. Rattler being on the top side is a credit to Sam's ability also. As the records show, Rattler was a very good reproducer of good hounds, and which could win.
Sam is the first Rattler dog which I have owned. This cross which produced Sam was a very good cross. I can hunt him all night and have never seen him get tired and quit. Sam has the stamina. He will go as hard at 5am as he does at 7pm.
Sam is no way tight on track, unless maybe a very old, bad track. He then tightens up and opens as he is drifting out on the track.
Glad that you might be interested in getting some of this blood out there in Kansas. There is going to be a couple of breedings here before long of Sam and two nice females and I will keep in contact with you.
Thanks again,

Your welcome Bill, I surely hope people will get them good gyps backed up to Sam and get some of what he's got to offer. I know its early but 2 litter from different gyps seem to be starting above average. To many studs today are getting bred because they are sure enough coondogs instead of sure enough reproducers! But, the owners are to proud to acknowledge that and quit breeding them!! I commend you for not offering him to the public till you knew he would throw the right kind. To many do it for what little $$ you get And to say ole blue bred another one. Looking forward to scooping me one up before the secret gets out!

Congrats

Good job on winning the breed.
There are three hounds on the list with a common denominator:
OLD BULLET.

Hi John,
How could I not remember the drawing of Penny. The times I drew her she showed me that she was a good hound. QUICK, get gone, get struck, get treed type of hound.
When you won the queen of the fall roundup the memories came back. I see no reason why she shouldn't reproduce some nice ones from Sam. She also has a good bloodline, but above all she is a a good female.
Sam was an early starting hound so I like to crossing Sam into good females, that started early. Keep him in mind and if you go another way, I know it will be a credit to the stud and best of luck to you.

Thanks Dave for the congrats on the breed win.
You sure have a nice line of dogs with the Bullet bloodline. That is impressive. Glad to see this.
Hopefully, we will get to take a hunt with our hounds one day.

Thanks Dave,
Hope to see you at Ashland if I get to make it.
Took Sam and Mattie tonight, Dropped Sam first by himself and he went in struck and got 350 yds and treed and had one.
Dropped him again and he got struck and got about 350 again and had one.
Dropped Mattie with a pup one drop, she went 150 yds got struck and treed 525 yds in one large frozen swamp. Had a heck of a time getting to her but after breaking thru the ice several times and getting wet up to my privates, shined the tree and she had one. After that episode I headed for the truck and then to the house.
Come on up and we will turn them loose.

Sounds great Dan. Hope all goes well with Zee and the puppies.
She looks good and healthy. The way she is bred there should be some in there that will turn the light on.
The same day, March 10th you and I both will have our hands full.
I am giving my Mother her 100th birthday that day.
Best of luck
Bill

I hunted with Sam last year at the world zones he is the definition of a coon dog very nice. I was hunting a Black and Tan female that very rarely gets beat I was impressed with Sam he can win that's for sure

I sure remember that night for you had a nice female and I knew
she was a dominate cast winner but so happened you drew Sam which also is a dominent cast winner. We had a good hunt and sure enjoyed hunting with you that night. Your female reminded me of a nice black female which I owned back in the day. Your female was pregnant that night if I remember right . How did the pups turn out?

Hey Tony,
Good hearing from you. I surely have enjoyed hunting Sam for he has no quit dark to daylight. One of the most pleasurable dogs ever. That Rattler dog of yours was a great reproducer. Only wish I had my eyes open sooner when he was here to breed to.
From what I am seeing from Sam and my two females which I have bred, I feel he is gonna be a very good reproducer of quick starting hard tree dogs. Now if some of the better females out there are brought here to him instead of just breeding for certain bloodlines, I believe he will prove it.
Take care and hope for the best for you.

This young fellas name is Jorden Berry. Hes 14 years old and he was delt a bad hand in life 4 years ago when he lost his mother to cancer. Recently he has shown some strong interest in hunting and his dad works long hours to suport his family on his own and rarely gets a chance to take him. I thought I would take him coonhunting. I wanted his 1st time to go good and the only finished seasoned dog i have is ol Tide and hes down at Freds in Ohio. Duke is doin great but i was a little nervous cause hes still a pup and still makes mistakes, but hes all we had. He got the job done treein a coon in short order and did his part in creating some life long memorys and maybe gettin a new coon hunter hooked. Hide season is dun and I didnt really need to shoot this coon, but when I handed Jordan the gun and he rolled him out 1st shot, it was worth more than any coonhide. Not a great pic of Duke, but the smile says it all. Didnt mean to Jak the thread, but was a great nite that I wanted to share.
