maybe they should just make it harder to grand a dog out.we are still working off the same system we had when i was a kid & there would be 40-50 dogs at a club hunt.it is way to easy to grand a dog out now days the title grnt just dont mean that much anymore.i bet a average dog can grand out faster today then a top notch coondog could have then.

There are plenty of hunts to take grands too, AO is a hunt just for Grands. If your trying to get more grands hunted at the local hunts then get a few clubs together. Have a prize at the end of the yr for the dog that earned the most pts. I have seen other clubs that do this and have 2 or 3 cast per hunt of grands. As far as making 2 or 3x's granded I really don't see where that would mean anything more than a dog just being a grand. If a dog is only being hunted locally it's being hunted againest the same few dogs.

Alot of them move up to hunting other registries after they are granded.

Open only to Grand Nite champions

250.00 to compete win cast gets 500 back
no buy back in for second round

100 dogs =25000

20 casts winners (just for discussion)pay out 10,000
that leaves four casts,each dog that advances to final cast another 1000

That would leave 14,000 for final cast

1st place 6500
2nd place 3500
3rd place 2500
4th place 1500

BACK IN THE DAY A LOT GRAND NITES USED TO RUN THE BIG BREED HUNTS FOR PURINA POINTS AND THE SAME FOR OPEN DOGS AND NITE CHAMPIONS THAT HAS CHANGED SOME STILL RUN THE BIG HUNTS I DO ONCE IN A WHILE USED TOO ALL THE TIME NOT TO MUCH ANYMORE
