Mean Dog:
If you listen to people talk, nobody wants a "mean dog",but almost everyone wants their dog to "stay under any conditions",that is a large grey area......
It is hard to get 1 that will "stay under any conditions", and not be a "mean dog".....
I have seen dogs that were perfect angels around the house, or around people, and around other dogs, until food,or a dead racoon, or a tree that dogs are treein on, then these same dogs flip a switch and "flip out".
Most of this in my opinion is a bred in trait, sometimes other things in the dogs behavior contributes into the dog, creating a bad habit, like "nipping" anything that touches them, be it a owners hand, or arm, or another dog that bumps them when they are all worked up.....
After a while that becomes a problem, and it don't take long before their guard is up, and they are ready for a confrontation at every tree, now your buddies all are saying your dog is mean...
Some dogs are treedogs, and are sneaky about being mean, because some man has influenced them to be nice when the lights are on them.....And those same owners brag about how "he will stay ,and he aint mean",but he jacks the tree,he will fight over a dead coon, and if whipped, he will bite his owner, but "he aint mean"...
People want their dogs to win, that is human nature, and a lot of winners are perfect angels at the tree, but a lot of them "will stay"or "bleed to be treeed"!
So alot of it has to do with what some are hunting at the moment, and we all know if what we are hunting is mean or not.
