Sometimes you hear family tales that might not be right but they sound good to the ear and so , easier to believe. The case being that Amos an Andy was fist two white guys on radio reading a script that had accents like mine. It's not making fun. It's just called Geetchie. If it was called Gullah , today there would be more grant money than could get spent up "preservung and teaching it" Taxmoney well spent , Eeye?. Exactly similar to Cajun in that respect and those figuring to make an (Ill-conceived dollar) according to Lakeland , for what is is . My new girfriend is from the upstate, SC. Sweetest Peach you ever want to talk to. She is a stewardess for SOUTHWEST headquartered in Los Vegas. She can't help her Southern accent But it is not Gullah, Geetchie nor Cajun,, She said so many times she wished she could speak mid western. But she is almost my age now and figures , the Europeans don't recognize it. The midwesterners accept it. It's the one's flying third class out of such and such airports that make fun of it, like she had to be dumb to talk like this, but to be honest , she said, if my backbone was a chalkboard I would rather fingernails scratching it than listening to them from that corner. She said, if you can't speak American English, at least you could go easy on the RRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs.
