Coonhunter or not you and I would have not one thing in common. I try to stay out of these stupid conversations but I've had it with city liberals running our country. The tax implications us as farmers are going to undertake now are unsustainable. Go ahead and throw out there that we get government subsidies, well we don't, we feed cattle and farm 200 acres and are not signed up for any government programs. Under obamacare for every $100 I make $3.80 go back to the goverment on top of what I already pay. For people with adjusted gross income of over $200,00. Well not only does my livelihood come out of that but so does several others that work for me. In my line of work that 3.80 can be my bottom line. If you don't have health insurance they flat can't refuse you healthcare. You get the bill and make payments until its paid for part of life. Obama has flat turned the EPA loose on us livestock producers.
Truly,
I hope you're a vegetarian, because you don't deserve a steak at night or cornflakes in the morning. Anyone that voted for Obama deserves the same
Sparky, I assume your "$200,00" was a typo and you meant $200,000.
#1. If you have an AGI [adjusted gross income] of $200,000 you should have health insurance. It would be foolish of you to loose everything you have by getting in a farm accident, running up 100s of thousands in med bills and have every piece of equipment and every cow confiscated to pay your med bills. It would also be silly of someone making 200k$ per year to think you could end up in the emergency room and have the rest of us taxpayers pick up the tab for your healthcare. Also if you are making $200k AGI per year, assumably you have a fairly high net worth. You might really want to consider mitigating risk to your net worth by having health insurance.
#2. You say that livelihoods of other workers come out of that 200k AGI. You might want to talk to your accountant. Salaries paid to your workers should be deducted as a business expense, and therefore lower your AGI. You should also be able to deduct any payments that you make for healthcare further lowering your AGI and your tax burden.
