Jim is correct in his statement that rules simply can not be ignored. I am thinking, in this man's case, that if he would do as anyone with a hearing disability does, contact his doctor, obtain a written statement from such, forward to UKC, and a written letter could be issued for him to take with him to hunts. I'm not saying this would happen, but it would be the only way i know of to allow someone under 55 to hunt in a senior cast.

Regardless of any officials decision, anyone less than 55 years of age is an ineligible entry in a Veterans cast. The official does not have the authority to make exceptions to the age requirement of Veterans Casts. I would assume the MOH was made well aware of it after sending him out in the Veterans cast? In any event, UKC could not have awarded the win even if accepted by the MOH.

The only way to allow an individual to compete in a Veterans cast is if they meet the age requirement. No disabilities may be considered.

You can't change the rules as you go.
As far as he has been hunting in other senior casts I assume he has not been winning until now . When you don't win questions don't come up.

Are you tellin' me the MOH did not know this guy was entering the cast illegally? This should have been cleared up before the hunt started.

Hey Allen,
Can you not bend the rules, like you did at Battle of the Breeds in Ada, OK. Rules say Tracking Devices are to be powered off during Hunt Time. Did you scratch all involved.
at Ada ?

While we are at this, can we have an intermediate class? It seem like I out walk the guys on the veterans side and am the last one to get to the tree with the young bucks. lol

My fellow hunters around here take care of me no need for a vetrans class. I love hunting with them !! Look at it this way .dog gets treed in a place that 4 handicaped or older people cant get to them safely at least you have some good help on a regular cast , I have only had one bad experiance and that was at AO , and thats why I have not been back!

Senior cast

Well if he was allowed to enter the cast not being a senior. The there should have been a formal complaint against the master of hounds.
Yes I think the rule should be changed but not broken. I'm sure it will be but until then you have to follow them.
Maybe UKC needs to go back and throw out the other two previous cast. Even if he didn't win, obviously the cast was set up.

The common sense rule

I've heard it from all three reg when all else fells just use common sense. Now if this man is that bad of shape than the rule should be change to moh decision. Everybody makes things to complicated. And I know I'll probably make the big guys at ukc mad but rules do get bent stretched and broken more than often. And that's going to happen, but normally they make the right choice because they use common sense. AND THATS WHATS REALLY RIGHT AT WHATEVER THE SENARIO MAY BE AT THE TIME. Not what people can twist around because there trying to bend the rules. Chances are the guy that was crying didn't want to draw the 53 year old out cause he new he had a better dog than him. But keep on letting these people twist the rules and watch the entries decline. If everyone new and anyone there wasn't happy with him entering should have said something before hand. Kinda like someone not ? A call at the beginning of the hunt than when they see they lose back up and ? It at the end cause they got beat. COME ON ALLEN, PUT A STOP TO THIS STUFF!!!!!

under the circumstances if the MOH put the dog/handler in a senior cast then threw it out it sounds to me like he the MOH broke the rules and the club allowed it rules are rules but two wrongs don't make a right if the MOH put him in the cast he along with the club is in charge of the hunt and felt the gentleman needed to be in that cast in this sport judgment calls are made all the time and we all live with those decisions the MOH/CLUB should of went with their first decision if they put him in that cast he paid his money no one said anything till he won the hunt I think the right thing to do is give him the win that probably wont happen the club should at least give him his entry fee and gas money back since he had no real chance to win.

Why is everyone so upset over something that happened 2 YEARS ago? Kind of late now to do anything about it now.
Read the date on the first post of the thread.

Senior Casts

Keep seeing these post on the senior casts and about cheating and this and that. Rules say you MUST be 55 or older so yes I had to wait to get to comp hunt before I turned 55 even thou I have COPD and can't walk fast or far at one time but I waited and enjoy my self now with the other seniors like my self that can not keep up with a real cast! For all the one's crying and everything what happens when I come out and enter a standard cast and you run off and leave me? Rules say everyone must keep a pase that everyone can keep up., so when you run off and leave me I go back to MOH and get the whole cast kicked out for not going by the rules! Leave us seniors alone and let us enjoy the hunts and if you get beat by a senior maybe you need more dog power!
