I like the Twilite Zone episode called "The Coonhunter". A deceiver was trying to get a coon hunter to step in to what the deceiver was calling heaven. The coon hunter was told his coon dog could not come in with him. Then, the coon hunter said he didn't want to go to any heaven without his coon dog so he passed it by. He came to find out the deceiver was trying to get him to step into hell. He walked on up the lane and met a guy who was an angel and led the coon hunter with his coon dog into heaven.

I know show was sort of corny but to me, there was a lot of truth in the show. I reckon no place would be heaven with out my hounds and if my hounds were not welcome, I wouldn't be welcome either.

I think I sent a copy of that episode to Tom, I know I have sent a number copies to some of my buddies. I know Tom's cousin Ivan can't watch that episode without a tear coming to his eye.

I have heard the episode is on YouTube somewhere.

I've watched it several times to me it is the best episode of the Twilite Zone... I feel the same If heaven can't welcome mans best friend then I am not welcome either... Some of my worst dealings have been done with preachers... They are good and bad in all of us... I told one he would split Hell wide open for lying to me my cousin and uncle about three hiounds we bought as a package deal. He was so mad he hung up the phone on me he did call back within the hour and told us to come back and he would give all three of us another hound but all he done was rub our nose it they were just as bad... Although me and my uncle and bought several good hounds from him I had bought 7 I am not sure how many my uncle had bought.

If you're worried about an ole coon dog in heaven I think you've got bigger problems. I see a lot of talk on this forum about bible thumper this and thumper that, but have yet to see ANY type of discussion of scripture and/or doctrine. Yeah, copy and pasted verses as "devotionals" but not much about the flourishing love of Jesus Christ our Lord. What say you?

Jesus ,said if I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me. I'm sure if we talked about religion or doctrine, there would bealot that didnt see eye to eye. and we get caught up in that. But as a minister i want the world to know that Jesus loves them and died to cleanse them from their sins. He doesnt love the sin but he loves the sinner and gave his life for us. He said no greater love than this ,that a man would lay down on his life for his friend. friends time is running out I'm not trying to push my believes on anyone ,but I want them to know there's a God who loves them

Although I am not the ultimate judge, I judge folks on how they act out hunting and how they act on a competition hunt cast, not on how they act sitting in a Church. There are some folks who claim to be religious act different in Church than they do at other times.

Dave there is defenitly some merit in what you have said. Neither Christians, or the Church are perfect we could sit here and shot holes in both all day. However Christians are the only people on Earth, and the Church is the only organization on Earth that give two winks about where your soul spends eternity!!!

I am not perfect, you guys reading this thread could testify to that. I am a Christian but I have seen some very pious men of other faiths that live what I call a good life and meet the highest standards of their faith. I certainly would trust them more than a "Sunday morning" Christian. And, I will state that I don't care much for the TV evangelists that want me to send a donation because they are worried about my soul.

There are several guys on this thread I am sure I could have a good coon hunt with and I do coon hunt with a preacher or 2. I have had some good times at revivals but I don't attend many these days.

Why hold Pastors, Preachers, evangelists to a higher standard? They are,MAN, just like the rest of us. Man will fail you, God never will!

I never put my faith in man, only God! They always say God called them so how do you know. One thing is certain, they are men!! NO respect of man. The word of God is spreaded in many different ways preaching being just one. No matter what they say or do it doesn't determine whether i go to heaven or hell that's left up to me.

I totally agree with you, if you are looking at the pulpit for salvation, you are not lookin' high enough. I didn't mean to insinuate that people are looking at "Man", just an observation of earlier posts.

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Would you say since God says he knew someone before they were formed in the belly and before they came out of the womb, would you say an abortionist killed God's creation of life? Also, wouldn't that mean anyone supporting/condoning abortion also be supporting/condoning murder? I do agree we are known by our fruits.

In sept 2011 I almost commited suicide. I prob was the best sinner around these parts. I was suffering from depression and PTSD. I had nightmares from alot of the things I seen and done in Iraq. In Oct 2011 I decided to go to Church. It was then God started dealing with me. and two weeks lated I became SAVED! I was able to sleep at night. The depression and ptsd went away. I then started going to a bible college and am studying counseling/pshycology and youth ministry. The Lord sure does work in mysterious ways. I went through what I did so I could help others that were in the same boat as me and then be able to step out of that boat and walk towards Jesus. Call me a thumper if ya want, I just know what God did for me.
