Skutter was behind the big tree with the coon in it when we got there, we walked around the tree to see the dog, he wasnt on a the tree, just standing there barking. when the lights hit him he climbed up on the slick beside it. He deserved the coon I think, but rules are rules. If ya let one slide ya gotta let em all slide.

bad break

Skutter deserved the win but being a competition hunt you have to go by what you see and not by what you believe. Everybody on the cast but Allen got stung I don't know how that happened. I don't think he got any pictures either.

I drew that same place in the top 100 thursday night... we looked at 9 singles and scored on 4. That was a GREAT place to have the final 4 cast!!! HUGE bottoms, creeks, and even a few cow pastures to make it easy walkin. UKC did a fine job with this hunt!!!

I hunted there as well. I agree that it was TOUGH hunting, but it was a show of who had the real dogs. The coons were deffinately not stacked on each other like in Indiana. Dogs had to go hunting and get it done.

One of the biggest problems that I seen was that the dogs were not acclimated to that area. Second day there and my dog was hacking, coughing, and swelled up from yellow jacket stings. (which was the first night of the finals). As soon as I stepped in the woods, my nose started running, hard to breath, and just not a pleasant smell in the air. I can only imagine how this effected the dogs. Mine still got in there and treed coons, but he worked a lot slower than he does here in KY.

If I would have done anything different, I would have spread out the time between the zones and the finals to give a chance for the guys to get their dogs to the area of the finals and let them get acclimated.

Overall, the UKC did one helluva job. The location may not have been the greatest for hunting, but the accomadations were second to none. It was more of a challenge to see which dogs could adapt to their surroundings the fastest and tree coons.

For those of you who were not there, you have no room to complain. I was there and the only thing that I have the right to complain about is my own dog not performing to his capabilities. Other than that, for those of you who read this and still feel compelled to cry, there's always next year! So put those tears into your drive and dedication, train your dog, and get it done or shut up.
