The Beginning
_ A historical marker was erected by the Tennessee Highway Department near the Tennessee Highway 42 bridge over the Obey_ River south of Albany, Kentucky. Inscribed on the sign -(see picture of sign)
"Tennessee Lead"
Near here in November 1852, a black and tan hound was stolen out of a deer chase by a horse trader, taken to Madison County Kentucky, sold to George Washington Maupin. There as Tennessee Lead, he became the foundation sire for all Walker, Trigg and Goodman fox hounds.
